Quick Installation Guide
Overview of the steps to install a network
To set up a wireless network (ad-hoc network), you will require a wireless network
adapter for each PC you want to connect to the network, for example the Gigaset PCI
Card 54 or the Gigaset PC Card 54.
To set up a network with wireless and wired components (infrastructure network) and
with Internet access, you will also need an Access Point, e.g. the Siemens Gigaset SE505
dsl/cable wireless router.
To set up the network in infrastructure mode:
1. First install the Gigaset PCI Card 54 in a PC. This is described on page 13.
2. Install the software. The installation procedure for Windows 98, 98SE, 98 ME and
2000 operating systems is described on page 14, and for Windows XP on page 15.
3. Then install the Access Point. This is described in the operating instructions for the
device in question.
4. Then set up the connection from the Gigaset PCI Card 54 to the Access Point. This is
described on page 16.
5. You can then connect other wireless PCs if you wish.
When installing the Gigaset PCI Card 54, make sure that the SSID (Service
Set ID) for all wireless network components is identical.

The factory set SSID of all Gigaset products for wireless networks is
ConnectionPoint.
