PROBLEM

LOOK FOR
1. Control bar not held down against handle
2. Dirty air filter
3. Out of fuel
4. Stale fuel; contaminates or water in fuel
5. Spark plug wire is disconnected
6. Spark plug fouled or not gapped correctly
7. Loose blade bolt
1. Control bar not held down against handle
2. Blade dragging in grass
3. Bent engine crankshaft.
1. Cutting height is set too low
2. Grass catcher overloaded
3. Mower housing is plugged with grass
clippings
4. Drive belt worn, broken, or slipped off
pulley
5. Debris plugging the drive wheel pinions
1. Cutting height is set too low
2. Grass is very thick
3. Engine speed set too low

REMEDY
1. Press down and hold control bar to handle
2. Clean or replace the air filter
3. Fill the fuel tank
4. Drain the tank and refill with fresh clean fuel
5. Connect wire to spark plug
6. Clean deposits from spark plug electrode
and check for proper gap
7. Tighten blade bolt to 45 lb-ft (61 Nm)
1. Press down and hold control bar to handle
2. Move lawn mower out of grass before
starting
3. Contact factory-authorized service dealer
1. Raise cutting height
2. Empty grass catcher bag
3. Stop engine and disconnect spark plug wire;
clean underside of mower housing
4. Contact factory-authorized service dealer
5. Contact factory-authorized service dealer
1. Raise cutting height
2. Reduce width of cut; raise cutting height
3. Set engine speed to FAST
4. Clean or replace the air filter
5. Stop engine and disconnect spark plug wire;
clean underside of mower housing
6. Reduce drive speed
1. Sharpen or replace blade
2. Raise cutting height
3. Reduce width of cut; raise cutting height
4. Set engine speed to FAST
5. Reduce drive speed
6. Stop engine and disconnect spark plug wire;
clean underside of mower housing
7. Empty grass catcher bag
8. Allow grass to dry before mowing
1. Replace blade or tighten blade bolt to 45 lb-in
(61 Nm)
2. Contact factory-authorized service dealer
