Maintenance

Regular maintenance of the vacuum pump ensures that the best work results can be achieved. The intervals
depend on the application and the ambient conditions.
Maintenance tasks may be carried out only by personnel that have been trained in
handling oxygen conducting systems.
Valid here is the "Die deutsche Unfallverhütungsvorschrift", BGR500, Chapter 2.32 (formerly
BGV B7).
To ensure the safety of our product, use only spare parts and operating fluids approved
by Gebr. Becker may be used. Disregarding this can cause an acute risk of explosion!
This applies especially to oils and seals.
It is mandatory to keep all parts clean.
Before starting maintenance or service tasks, disconnect power from the vacuum
pump and reliably prevent an unintentional restart.
Before working on the pump's suction chamber (e.g. to clean it), the pump needs to be run
under normal ambient air briefly to purge residual oxygen from the pump.
Generally, it is not necessary to change the oil in the device. It remains permanently
in the device. During maintenance work, only lost oil is replaced.
The oil is only changed when the device is cleaned completely. This is only necessary if there
are inflammable residues in the oil, for example in case of contamination by tramp oil, fat or
organic residues. See chap. 2.3.
Cleaning after oil contamination may only be carried out by a specialist workshop
authorised by Gebr. Becker.

7.1 Filling in oil

To operate the vacuum pump, a special oil should be used.
Permitted is solely the "FOMBLIN YL VAC 25/6" oil approved by Gebr. Becker. Otherwise
there is a risk of fire or of the device exploding.
Mixing these oils with mineral or synthetic oils is not permitted.
To fill the pump with oil, first turn off the vacuum pump; then remove the plug at the oil tank (see figure E.3,
page 6) and carefully pour the oil into the tank. Check the oil level in the oil gauge glass.
The oil level should not exceed the upper marking when the vacuum pump is standing still (pump switched off).
Max. filling quantities: U5.70 / 100 - 2.0 liters, U 5.165 / 200 - 5.0 liters and U 5.300 - 6.0 liters.
Afterwards, insert the plug back into the oil tank.
When filling with oil, make sure that the tools used are clean so that the oil is not contaminated.
The oil tank of the device is sealed. Without the seal, the operating license becomes void.
Maintenance work at the oil tank may only be carried out by persons trained by Gebr. Becker
in handling "oxygen-carrying devices".
