INSTALLATION/LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Make sure the grill is off and cool to the touch before beginning.
2. Place up to 1.6 kg of charcoal (lump or briquettes) in the charcoal tray. Be sure to
spread evenly around the tray. Large pieces of charcoal may need to be broken
up in order to fit in the tray.
3. Remove the cooking grate and the emitter from the grill.
4. Using the lifter tool, place the charcoal tray in the grill.
5. Using the lifter tool, place the cooking grate on top of the charcoal tray. If the
grate does not sit flat on the tray, remove the grate, and either break up or re-
move the obstructing charcoal pieces.
6. Turn on the gas to the grill and light the grill. Leave the burner on high. Close
the lid.
7. Allow 15-20 minutes for the grill and charcoal to heat up with the lid closed.
8. Turn off the gas. Open the lid. Allow 10-15 minutes for the charcoal to ash over,
or however long it takes to for the charcoal to gain an ashy-white color.
9. Once the charcoal has ashed-over, you can add your food to the grill. You're
ready to cook!
AFTER COOKING:
1. Once the grill has cooled and is not hot to the touch, be sure to clean the grate
and empty the ash and spent charcoal into an ash bucket. Be sure the coals are
fully extinguished before doing this.
2. Thoroughly clean out the charcoal tray of ash and debris. Because the tray is
stainless steel and is not seasoned, dish soap and water can be used to clean
the tray. Do not put this tray in the dishwasher.
3. Be sure to clean out the grill of any leftover ash and debris.
4. The tray can either be placed back in the grill for future use, or it may be mounted
on the back of this grill with the hanger tool supplied in this kit.
5. NOTE: The nature of the tray's stainless steel material will cause it to turn various
shades of color when heated. This is to be expected and is not a defect.
SAFETY WARNINGS:
• DO NOT turn on the gas after the ash-over period is started. If the burner is lit
while there is grease on the charcoal or grill, it can cause a grease fire.
• DO NOT attempt to empty the ash from the charcoal tray while the grill is still hot.
Allow the grill to cool down first.
