The inside diameter of the pipe must match
the pressure port. Place pump in the pumping medium.
When used on muddy, yielding ground, the pump must
be placed on top of stones or similar, or placed in a fine-
meshed basket, so that the suction filter is protected from
obstruction.
Automatic float switch
If the water level rises to a certain maximum level (switch-
on point), the float will automatically switch the pump on.
If the water level drops down to a certain minimum level
during pumping (switch-off point), the float switches off
the pump.
The switching distance, i.e. the difference in water level
between activation and deactivation can be determined
individually.
ALARM
For faultless operation, please follow the instructions
below:
• The mounting points and the length of the free end of
the float cable must be set to the desired switching
level. It should be noted that the switch-on point of
the pump is located below the intake line to prevent
a backflow of the pumping medium. The switch-off
point must be above the upper edge of the pump
housing, so that an air cushion cannot form in the
pump, which could make venting of the pump nec-
essary.
• In no event should the float and cable be thrown into
the pumping medium, as correct switching is only
possible when rotating the float to the attachment
point of the cable. Possible consequences if these
instructions are not followed include flooding (if the
pump does not turn on), or destruction of the pump
caused by dry running (if the pump does not stop).

• When using a separate float for starting or stopping
the pump and the alarm, the switching levels should
be selected as above. The alarm float should switch
about 10 cm above the pump activation point, but be-
low the intake.
Important: after each change of the float attachment it is
necessary to check the proper function of the float switch
by performing a test run. If the water is pumped from a
narrow water reservoir, we recommend our dry running
protection kit which includes a control box and 3 elec-
trodes (grounding, low water and high water electrodes)
- available on request.
Float switch for wire rope coupling
Pumps without float switch can be provided later with a
HOMA float switch for wire rope coupling. The electrical
connection is carried out by intercoupling the float switch
between the power socket and mains plug of the pumps.
If the float cable is installed later, fix it on the pump accord-
ing to the desired switch distance and the switch level on
the pump, the ascending pipe or another fixed installed
point. Under no circumstances the float with the cable
must be thrown into the medium, since correct switch
is only possible with a rotational movement of the float
around the mounting point of the cable. Possible conse-
quences in the event of non-compliance are flooding (the
pump does not start)/destruction of the pump due to dry
run (the pump does not switch off).
Important: After each change of the mounting of the float
a correct function of the float switch must be checked
with a test run.

5.3. Use of chains

Chains are used to lower/lift the pump into/out of the me-
chanical room. They are not provided for securing a float-
ing pump.
For use according the instructions follow these steps:
• Fix one end of the chain at the provided eyelet/the
handle of the pump.
• Fix the other end on the lifting device.
• Tighten the chain and lift the pump slowly and in a
controlled manner.
• Swing the pump subsequently over the mechanical
room and lower it carefully.
• Lower the pump as far as the operation point and en-
sure a steady position of the pump.
• Remove the chain from the lifting device and safe-
guard this on the chain guard, which is at the upper
edge of the mechanical room. This ensures that the
chain cannot fall into the mechanical room and does
not pose danger to anyone.
