Further functions

5.3.1

Data storage

The measured data can be stored in the instrument. When the moisture content is displayed, the value
can be saved by pressing the arrow-up key. If the amount in the display above the key rises by one the
measurement has been successful. To enter the menu, the left button needs to be pressed.
5.3.2

Data logging function

The paper moisture meter can log data continuously. In the menu, there is the section "Options > Log
time". You can activate the point "3 sec". After pressing the arrow-up button, the device will measure and
store the data every 3 seconds.
The function can be deactivated by pressing the arrow-down button and then the stored data can be
named by using the arrow keys.
5.3.3

Send data (logs) to a computer

ATTENTION: Please note that a data transfer is only possible if you have the PCE-PM 3 in connection
with the USB data interface module!!!
Connect the instrument to a computer by using a USB cable. Remove the protection cap on the device
and plug in the cable. Insert the other end into a USB port. Start the LogMemorizer software on the
computer. After that, switch on the measuring instrument. The data transfer can be started in two ways:
1. Start the data transfer with the device:
Apply the left key on the instrument until you reach the menu. Choose the submenu "Send logs"
and confirm your choice by pressing the power button. All the data that is stored on the
instrument will be transferred.
2. Start the data transfer on the computer:
Open the software and click on the button "remote control". A drop-down menu will show up
which includes the commands „Import last manual log" (the measurement series last saved is
transferred) and „Import all manual logs" (all saved logs are transferred). By clicking on one of
those commands, the data will be transferred.
5.3.4

Print data (logs)

ATTENTION: Please note that you can only print data if you have the PCE-PM 3 in connection with the
USB data interface module and the mobile thermal printer!!!
To print the gathered data, the instrument has to be connected to a computer. To do so, you need to
connect the two via the printer cable. Open the protective cap, plug the cable into the device and turn on
the device. After this, the cable has to be put into the printer which has to be switched on afterwards. A
green light should flash. If this is not the case, you need to change the batteries and retry.
Press the left button on the PCE-PM 3 until you reach the menu. Choose the submenu "Print logs" and
confirm with using the power button. Now you can select between printing all measurement series or only
the last one. Confirm your selection again with the power button. The memory should be cleared regularly
in order to save printing paper.

Calibration

6.1

Checking the calibration

The calibration should be checked monthly. This can be done by using the calibration plate. The
instrument should show a temperature between 18.0 and 24.0 °C (64.4 and 75.2°F). Then, the instrument
needs to be switched on and the characteristic curve "Reference" needs to be selected. Pick up the
instrument with one hand and press it on the calibration plate with the same pressure you apply during
measurements. Hold the moisture meter horizontally. The steel sensors need to be placed one centimeter
away from the edge of the calibration plate. The shown moisture content should be between 18,5 and
20,5. If the value is out of that range, a calibration has to be made according to the following instruction.
