1. Important Safety Instructions
Read these instructions carefully and retain them for future use. If this product is
passed to a third party, then these instructions must be included.
C AUTION
When using hand-operated lawn mowers, basic safety precautions should always be
followed to reduce the risk of personal injury, including the following:
» Keep children away – All visitors should be kept at a distance from work area.
» Do not operate the product while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
» Dress properly – Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. They can be caught in moving
parts. Use of protective gloves and substantial footwear is recommended when
working outdoors.
» Use right product – Do not use the product for any job except that for which it is
intended.
» Do not force the product – The product will do the job better and with less likelihood
of a risk of injury at the rate for which it was designed for.
» Do not overreach – Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
» Stay alert – Watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not use the product
when tired.
» Store the product indoors – When not in use, the product should be stored indoors in
dry, and in a high or locked-up place – out of reach of children.
» Maintain the product with care – Keep blades sharp and clean for best and safest
performance.
– Follow instructions for lubricating.
– Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.
» Keep hands and feet away from cutting area.
» Objects struck by the blade can cause severe injuries to persons. The lawn should
always be carefully checked and cleared of all objects prior to each mowing.
» If the product strikes a foreign object, follow these steps:
– Stop mowing.
– Inspect for damage.
– Repair any damage before restarting and using the product.
» Only use the product in daylight or good artificial light.
» Avoid holes, ruts, bumps, rocks, or other hidden hazards. Uneven terrain could
overturn the product, or cause operator to lose their balance or footing.
» Do not direct discharge material toward anyone. Avoid discharging material against a
wall or obstruction. Material may ricochet back toward the operator. Tilt the blade(s)
when crossing gravel surfaces.
» Do not leave the product unattended. Always park on level ground.
» Do not mow in reverse unless absolutely necessary. Always look down and behind
before and while backing.
» Slopes are a major factor related to accidents. Operation on slopes requires extra
caution.
