Installation
NOTICE
Improper installation
Improper installation can compromise the function of the
BIR and result in damage.
► Ensure that no strong electrical or magnetic fields
are present in the direct vicinity of the BIR.
► Be sure to maintain the specified distances and
separations.
Any orientation is permitted. Mount the BIR on a level
surface of the machine using the mounting clamps and
cylinder-head screws. Mounting clamps are not included in
the scope of delivery and must be ordered separately.

1. Guide the BIR into the mounting clamps.
2. Attach the BIR to the base using mounting screws
(tighten screws in the clamps with max. 2 Nm).
3. Installing target (accessory).
The BIR inductive rapid positioning system is suitable both
for floating, i.e. non-contacting targets and for guided
targets (see images).
The functionality of the BIR is only guaranteed
with one target. Two or more targets are not
allowed.

Note when installing the target:
– Avoid lateral forces.
– Connect the target to the machine member with a joint
rod (see Accessories).

Note when installing the target:
– To ensure the accuracy of the position measuring
system, the target is fastened to the moving machine
part with non-magnetizable screws (stainless steel,
brass, aluminum).
– The moving member must guide the target on a
parallel line to the BIR.
– For distance A between the target and the BIR and for
the center offset B the following values must be
maintained:

1) The selected distance must remain constant over the entire measuring
length.
2) For optimal measuring results a distance A of 1...3 mm and an offset B
of ±1 mm are recommended.
– The distance C between the target and parts made of
magnetizable material must be at least 10 mm.
