GENERAL APPLICATION NOTES
This product is part of personal protective equipment
(PPE) for protection against falls from height and should
be assigned to a person. These instructions for use con-
tain important notes for proper practical use. The instruc-
tions must have been understood by the user before ac-
tual use. The reseller must provide this document in the
language spoken in the country of use and it must be kept
together with the equipment during the entire service life.
However, the information cannot replace experience, re-
sponsible action and knowledge required for mountain-
eering, climbing, and working at height; and they certain-
ly cannot free users from bearing their personal risk. The
product must be used exclusively by trained, experienced
persons or by instructed persons who are being super-
vised. Poor physical and/or mental health can jeopardise
safety under normal conditions and in emergencies.
Attention: If these instructions for use are not carefully
observed, the life of persons may be at risk!

GENERAL SAFETY NOTES

Mountaineering, climbing, and work at a height or depth
often entail hidden risks and hazards from external influ-
ences. Errors and carelessness may cause severe acci-
dents, injuries, and even death. If this product is com-
bined with other components, these may mutually affect
safety. Use the product only in connection with CE
marked components of personal protective equipment
(PPE) for protection against fall from a height. If original
components of the product are modified or removed,
this may cause hazard. The equipment should not be al-
tered, modified or adjusted by use of additional parts in
any way not specifically recommended by the manufac-
turer in writing. Before and after use, check the product
for possible damages. Always ensure proper conditiona,
correct function and suitability for use. If in doubt con-
cerning the safety condition of the product, remove it
from use immediately. In case of abuse and/or improper
use, the manufacturer refuses any liability. The responsi-
bility and risks lie with the users or persons responsible
for the operation. When using this product, we recom-
mend additionally observing the applicable national
rules. Personal protective equipment is exclusively de-
signed for securing of persons.

Type designations
Ice tools are differenciated as type 1 (-) and type 2 (T).
Type 1 ice tools are meant for use in snow and/or ice.
Since type 2 ice tools are additionally meant for use on
rock, higher requirements upon the stability of the mate-
rials used apply than for type 1 ice tools. The pick and
the shaft of an ice tool may have to be declared sepa-
rately as type 1 or type 2; and if they conform to type 2,
must be marked as such.
Attention:
Technical ice tools can also be used for dry-tooling, how-
ever, warranty for such applications is excluded; more-
over, good, well-functioning securing must be ensured.
Ice tools used for dry-tooling should be used exclusively
for this purpose and should not be used also for alpine
climbing. The material fatigue resulting from dry-tooling
may lead to failure of the equipment. Prior to each use,
the equipment must be scrutinized carefully as set forth
in the safety notes.

models
2 The technical ice tools by EDELRID are furnished with
a modular change-over system for adze and hammer/
hammer light/shovel/blind washer.
Any combination of adze and hammer/hammer light/
shovel/blind washer is possible.
3 The pick of technical ice tools by EDELRID with the
modular change-over system must always be fur-
nished with hammer, hammer Lite, adze, or blind
washer.
