WHAM10/WHAM30 Series Auto-Darkening Welding Helmet User Manual
BEFORE WELDING
This welding helmet is designed to protect the
welders' eyes from harmful radiation including visible
light, ultraviolet radiation (UV) and infra-red radiation
(IR) resulting from certain arc and gas welding
processes when used in accordance with these User
Instructions.
This welding helmet is suitable for all types of
electro-welding: covered electrodes, MIG/MAG,TIG/
WIG, plasma welding, cutting and laser welding (only
WHAM30 models with two shade ranges, i.e. 5-8 and
9-13), except for gas welding.
WARNINGS
Remove protection foil from both sides of the cover
lenses before use. Never place the helmet or the filter
on a hot surface. Use only within the temperature
range of -10°C to +60°C. Do not immerse the filter
(auto-darkening filter] in water. Do not expose the
filter to liquids or dirt. Cracked or scratched protective
cover lenses should be replaced immediately. If this
helmet does not darken upon striking an arc, stop
welding immediately and contact your supervisor or
your dealer.

STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE

When not in use, the filter should be stored in a dry
place within the temperature range of-20°C to +70°C.
Prolonged exposure at temperatures above 45°C may
decrease the battery lifetime. It is recommended
to keep the solar cells of the filter in the dark or not
exposed to light during storage in order to maintain
power down mode. This can be achieved by simply
placing the filter face down on the storage shelf.
It is always necessary to keep the solar cells and the
light sensors of the filter free of dust and spatters:
cleaning can be done with a soft tissue or a cloth
soaked in mild detergent (or alcohol]. Never use
aggressive solvents such as acetone.
This welding helmet has no expiration date. Do not
use if damaged or malfunctioning.
COVER LENSES AND CARTRIDGE
Internal and external polycarbonate protective
cover lenses must be used in conjunction with
the auto-darkening filter to protect the user
against permanent damage and injury.
Changing the Shade Cartridge: Remove filter h older
by releasing locks at bottom and sliding down
(Fig.1). Flex top end of the filter holder to remove
filter cartridge from the frame. Install new fi lter
cartridge into frame [See Fig.2]. Ensure the filter
cartridge is inserted into the filter holder correctly as
shown, and install filter holder assembly into helmet
shell. Replacement components must be used in
accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
Replacing External Cover Lens: Remove filter h older
by releasing locks at bottom and sliding down
(Fig.1). Lift up the filter holder to replace the external
cover lens underneath.
Replacing Internal Cover Lens: Place your fingernail
in the recess at the bottom of the viewing window
and flex lens upwards u ntil the cover r eleases from
the cartridge. Slide new cover in, ensuring a tight fit.
ADJUSTING HEADGEAR
Top (See adjustment "W" in Fig. 3) Adjust overhead
strap for proper depth on the head, to ensure correct
balance and stability.
Tightness(See adjustment "Y" in Fig. 3)Press the
adjusting knob located on the back of the headgear
and turn left or right to a desired tightness.
