Installation instructions

The device can be installed in any position. The figure
shows possible installation positions at a tank. For
adhesive and viscous media many installation positions
(marked with
) are only suitable to a limited extent as
residue can be detected as liquid level.

Installation in pipelines from inner diameter of 25 mm.
–
Observe minimum lateral distance of 15 mm to tank
walls or fittings or assemblies.
–
In the case of assembly with process adapter proper fit
of the device, proper function and tightness of the
connection are only guaranteed with Balluff adapters.
–
Do not use any additional sealing material (e.g. Teflon
tape) at the probe tip (sealing cone).

Description
Installation
In order to ensure the sealing function, the sensor must be
installed using a process adapter.
Process adapters are available as accessories,
an overview of the available adapters can be
found online at www.balluff.com.
Assembly with clamp adapter / adapter for pipelines
1. Lightly grease sensor thread with suitable lubricating
paste approved for the application.
2. Screw sensor into adapter until it is hand-tight. Avoid
any mechanical effects on the sealing surfaces.
3. Clamp sensor and adapter in clamping device. Only
tighten clamping device gently so that the adapter
does not become deformed.
4. Tighten sensor using spanner. Tightening
torque: 20...25 Nm.
5. Fasten sensor and adapter to process connection
using union nut, trim ring, or similar.
Assembly with weld-on/screw-in adapter
Ensure sealing surfaces are clean. Only remove
protective packaging shortly before assembly.
Replace device or adapter if sealing surfaces are
damaged.
1. Weld or screw in process adapter.
2. Lightly grease sensor thread with suitable lubricating
paste approved for the application.
3. Screw in sensor and tighten. Tightening
torque: 20...25 Nm.
4. Check tank/pipeline for tightness after assembly.
Assembly without process adapter
The sealing function is not guaranteed without
Balluff process adapter.
The device can be fastened at a tank using the G1/2
thread.
