4.4 Individual lock adjustment

Adjusting the release cord
The lock release cord must be shortened individually for the wearer. Untighten
both threaded bolts at the hand release, adjust the length of the cord und re-
tighten the threaded bolts by hand. The cord must run through both channels
at the hand release. Fixate the hand release at the outside of the socket.
Please make sure that the cord is not under tension when the joint is locked.
At the same time, the pulling distance must be long enough in order to
effect locking. If the lock release is adjusted correctly, the user can unlock the
joint by hand release, for example when sitting down.
Temporary deactivation of the lock
The wearer is able to walk with the brake knee joint temporarily, for example
under supervision; otherwise he needs a locked knee joint: Remove one of the
two lugs at the handle of the release cord in order to enable to hook up the
handle in released condition. Make sure that the locking bolt cannot snap into
place while the handle is hooked up. That way, the KINEGEN.smart may be
temporarily used as locking joint.

Permanent deactivation of the lock

Once the wearer is capable of walking
with a brake knee joint and does not
need the lock any longer, the lock can
be deactivated:
Hold the lock released by means of the
cord (a). Unscrew both threaded bolts
(b) from the drill holes until they touch
the release cord support. Use an allen
key SW1 for this task.
