5 Service directions and recommendations

As manufacturers, we recommend to check and and to readjust the knee
joint KINEGEN.smart after four weeks of use. The first service exchange of the
3A860/E90 elastomer bumper must be done after approx. 6 months. Other
maintenance services on wear and functionality are recommended to be con-
ducted annually. It is very important to carefully inspect the flexion resistance
and the noise emission. Extension and flexion must not show any malfunction.

5.1 Lubrication

To lubricate the gliding metal surfaces of the KINEGEN.smart Knee Joint, use
112P37 Special Lubricant.
Attention!
Do NOT lubricate the brake clamp and / or the brake axis!

5.2 Replacing the release cord

Do not exchange the release cord while wearing the prosthesis. To mount a new
3A860/E95 release cord, dismount the release handle of the release cord first.
Unscrew the screws on both sides of the locking mechanism by means of a hexa-
gon screw driver SW 2,5. Remove the old release cord and attach the new release
cord accordingly. Mount the release handle of the release cord. Adjust the length
of the release cord as described in pt. 4.4.
Attention!
Tighten the socket head screws with a 173P10 torque wrench,
calibrated, to 1,5 Nm and secure them with 118P43 Loctite 243.
Attention!
In order to eliminate sounds in the foam cosmetic, use
116P11 silicone spray, not talcum. Using talcum causes increased
danger that the user may fall; as it withdraws grease from the
mechanical construction parts, which may cause malfunctions.
If the KINEGEN.smart is used in connection with talcum, all
warranty rights against Streifeneder ortho.production will be
void. Spray the 116P11 silicone spray directly onto the friction
surfaces of the foam cosmetic.
