3. Maintenance tips
• Do not spray chemical aerosol such as air freshener, hair spray, perfume insecticide or
spray paint near the unit.
• Do not paint the CO alarm. If you need to paint the wall and floor, place the alarm in a clean
plastic bag first. Install the alarm again once the paint fumes have completely dissipated.
• Do not block or cover the alarm's vent hole with paste adhesive or other items.
• If the detector falls on the floor, pick it up to check whether the battery is fixed properly in
place. After making sure the battery is installed properly, press the TEST button again to see
if the unit is functioning normally before installing it again.
4. Hazards of improper dismantling and repairing the alarm
The detector was calibrated before leaving the factory. If you dismantle it without permission
and make changes to any components or software, it may cause false alarms or malfunctions.
Do not dismantle or modify any components or programs.
WARNING: Do not dismantle or modify any components or programs, as this may result in
malfunctions.
g) Information on CO
1. General information
Carbon monoxide is a colourless and odourless gas that can cause death, and is produced
when a combustible material burns. Burning a combustible material in a small space will result
in higher concentrations of carbon monoxide. The absorption of a certain amount of carbon
monoxide can cause death. In many countries, product safety commissions warn the public
on the hazards of this fatal gas and help to raise awareness of carbon monoxide poisoning.
2. Possible sources of carbon monoxide
At home, carbon monoxide may be produced by heating and burning equipment, such as
stoves, water heaters, fireplaces, charcoal burning grills, natural gas furnaces, heating devices
and microgenerators. Vehicles running in enclosed garages can also produce CO.
When these devices are used in well-ventilated environments or in normal working condition,
the amount of carbon monoxide will be minimised and discharged quickly without causing harm
to people. However, if there is a lack of oxygen or the device malfunctions, this may result in a
high concentration of carbon monoxide. In the event of poor ventilation, high concentrations of
carbon monoxide can be accumulated to the extent that can harm people's health.
WARNING: The unit only indicates the presence of CO and warns of the severity of
concentrations. It cannot prevent CO from being produced.
3. Symptoms of CO poisoning
• Common mild symptoms including slight headaches, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue.
• Common medium-severity symptoms include headaches, drowsiness, confusion, and an
elevated heart rate.
• Common severe symptoms include convulsion, unconsciousness, cardio respiratory failure,
brain injury and death.
Young children and the elderly may be more vulnerable. Please pay attention to those at higher
risks due to increased sensitivity.
If you experience even mild symptoms of CO poisoning, please consult your doctor immediately.
WARNING: The product may not prevent the chronic effects of carbon monoxide exposure and
may not fully safeguard individuals at heightened risk.
4. What to do when the alarm sounds
WARNING! Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas that can kill. When the alarm goes off, this
indicates concentrations of carbon monoxide that are dangerous to the health of those in the
immediate vicinity.
As carbon monoxide can kill, please take the following measures when the alarm goes off:
a. Stop using all fuel-burning appliances and ensure that they are turned off. Open doors and
windows quickly. Turn on ventilation and exhaust systems.
b. Make sure all people in the vicinity move to a fresh air environment immediately. Call
the emergency services for help. Do not re-enter the premises until the alarm stops and
remains in standby.
c. Seek medical assistance for anyone suffering the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning.
d. If the alarm goes off again within 24 hours, repeat the above steps, and call a qualified
appliance technician to investigate sources of CO from fuel-burning equipment and
appliances, and to check if the ventilation and exhaust system is working properly. If
problems are identified during the inspection, stop using the equipment immediately.
Qualified appliance technicians should always be used to repair faulty equipment.

Care and cleaning

• Disconnect the product from the mains before cleaning.
• Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol, or other chemical solutions as
they can cause damage to the housing and functioning of the product.
• Clean the product with a dry, fibre-free cloth.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in household
waste. At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in accordance with
applicable regulatory guidelines.
Remove any inserted (rechargeable) batteries and dispose of them separately from
the product.
b) (Rechargeable) batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used
(rechargeable) batteries. Disposing of them in household waste is prohibited.
(Rechargeable) batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with this
symbol to indicate that disposal in domestic waste is forbidden. The abbreviations
for the heavy metals involved are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (name
on (rechargeable) batteries, e.g., below the waste bin icon on the left).
Used (rechargeable) batteries can be returned to collection points in your
municipality, our stores or wherever (rechargeable) batteries are sold.
You thus fulfill your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
