Installation

Before the first use
➤Check that all components of the solar module
are complete and undamaged.
!
WARNING! Electrocution hazard
The device may not be used if the equip-
ment or the connection cable is visibly
damaged.
If the power cable is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer, a service
agent or a similarly qualified person in
order to prevent safety hazards.

Choosing a location

• Choose a sunny location, avoid shade. For the
MT SM 120 TL both halves of the module work
individually. For optimal performance, place the
whole solar module in direct sunlight.
• Choose a location with a flat surface. The solar
module can be bent maximum 3% (see fig. 2,
page 3 ).
• Choose a location where there is no risk of step-
ping on the solar module. Even if the surface is
flat and solid, stepping on the module must be
avoided.
• Choose a location where the cable can be con-
nected to the vehicle socket without risk of trip-
ping on the cable.

4. Connect the solar module cable to the solar
charge regulator.
5. Connect the solar regulator cable to a DC
power outlet of the vehicle, either in a 12  V
standard socket or in a cigarette lighter socket.
– Use the standard socket to charge the house
battery.
– Use the cigarette lighter socket to charge the
starter battery.
I
NOTE
In the cigarette lighter socket, it may only
be possible to charge the battery when
the ignition is on, depending on the vehi-
cle.
6. Fasten the solar module in a sunny place, one
of the following ways:
– Place the solar module on the ground or other
flat surface. Fasten with the eyelets if needed
(see fig. 1, page 3).
– Suspend the solar module vertically. Fasten
the module with the eyelets securely so that it
cannot fall down.
– Use the built-in magnets in the textile frame to
fasten the solar module on a magnetic area.
A
NOTICE! Damage hazard
Protect the solar cells. Do not cut or in
any way affect the solar cells when fasten-
