6.3 Connecting the solar panel

Operation of this device may produce a high voltage which could cause severe injuries

Cover the solar panels completely with an opaque material to stop the production of
electricity when working with panels or wiring.

When working around a battery, do not allow tools to bridge the battery terminals or
short circuit any part of the battery.

Battery cables must not be connected to the battery in reverse polarity, otherwise dam-
age to the device may occur.
1. Disconnect the negative battery connection of the vehicle.
2. Connect the red wire of the extension harness (fig. 1, page 3, 1) to the positive connector of the solar panel
(fig. 1, page 3, 2).
3. Connect the black wire of the extension harness (fig. 1, page 3, 3) to the negative connector of the solar
panel (fig. 1, page 3, 4).
4. When using multiple solar panels, connect the positive terminal (fig. 1, page 3, 2) of one panel to the nega-
tive terminal (fig. 1, page 3, 5) of the next panel.
5. Mount the solar charge controller with fasteners near the batteries (fig. 3, page 5, 2).
6. Route the extension harness (fig. 2, page 4, 3).through the cable duct (fig. 2, page 4, 4). to the solar
charge controller (fig. 2, page 4, 5).
7. Connect the solar charge controller (fig. 3, page 5, 2) to the battery (fig. 3, page 5, 4).
8. To connect multiple batteries in series, refer to fig. 4, page 6. To connect multiple batteries in parallel, refer
to fig. 5, page 7.
9. Cover all exposed segments of the wiring on the vehicle exterior with waterproof sealing tape (fig. 1,
page 3, 6).
10. Connect the extension harness (fig. 3, page 5, 1) to the connectors of the solar charge controller (fig. 3,
page 5, 3).
11. Reconnect the negative battery connection of the vehicle.

6.4 Checking the installation

1. Make sure the solar panels are in the sunlight.
2. Clip an ammeter around the positive solar connection between the solar charge controller and the batteries.
3. Activate a consumer connected to the batteries.
4. Observe the ammeter for current flow from the solar charge controller to the batteries.
5. If no current flow is observed, recheck all connections and the fuse.
