In case of a signal aspect showing "stop" or "shunting movement" or "only shunting movement allowed", the distant signal
at the own mast will be masked automatically. A masked signal complies with the principle of the real railway: If you
cannot proceed on your journey route, the aspect of the following signal needs not be known.

3. Connection

Insert the plug of the signal in the respective socket of the multiplexer. Please respect the correct polarity. The mark on
the plug must correspond to the mark on the multiplexer.
Connection with wrong polarity does not cause any harm. But the identification and control of the signal will be incorrect
then, recognisable by repeatedly flashing LEDs.
For the connection of the multiplexer to the control device of your layout (control panels, digital command station), please
refer to the notes and illustrations. Connect the multiplexer as shown in fig. 1 – 3.
3.1 Connection to analogue systems
Signals working in a conventional system can be operated by the Viessmann push-button panels, item 5547 (for four
2-aspect signals), item 5546 (for two 3-aspect signals) and item 5545 (for two 4-aspect signals). Colour and grouping of the
push-buttons thus correspond to the switching possibilities of the respective signal type (fig.1).
Modern Ks-signals have sometimes more than four aspects. Control panels can only switch over to the following four
aspects: Hp0 (red), Ks1 (green), Ks1+Zs3 (yellow) and Hp0+Sh1 (white).
Hint for direct current operation: Please respect absolutely the polarity, when operating with direct current: red = plus;
brown = minus
3.2 Digital connection to the rail
Using a digital system, you connect the terminals "rt" and "bn" to the rail output of a digital command station or of a
booster (fig. 2).
You can connect an external push-button panel parallel with a digital command station to the multiplexer in order to oper-
ate the signal also manually. But in this case the switching information is not transmitted to the digital command station.
3.3 Digital connection to the LSB
Connect the multiplexer to the efficient speed bus LSB, when using the Viessmann Commander, items 5300 / 5320 as
digital command station (fig 3). Please use our special LSB cables, items 5390 – 5393 for the interconnection of LSB
devices. They are equipped with the appropriate plugs and ready-to-use.
Both LSB connection sockets of the multiplexer have a parallel connection. You can insert the LSB cable in any socket
you want in order to connect the Commander. More LSB devices can be connected to the second socket. The intercon-
nection to the Commander can also be effected indirectly by other connected LSB devices. The multiplexer registers and
configurates itself automatically with the Commander then.
You can connect an external push-button panel to the multiplexer, parallel with the Commander, in order to operate the
signal also manually (see fig. 1). The switching information of the signal will be transmitted to the Commander by the
LSB. This way the integrated track diagram always displays the correct signal aspect and the automatic operating mode
of the Commander can exploit it.
Optionally, the four switching inputs of the multiplexer (Hp0, Hp1, Hp2, Sh1) can also be used as free programmable
feedback contacts by the Commander. The Commander executes the configuration. You will find more information in the
reference manual of the Commander.

4. Configuration

The multiplexer must be configurated after the connection to a device. An automatic configuration of the multiplexer is
executed, when connected to the Commander by the LSB only. You will find information about the connection of the
multiplexer to the Commander in the reference manual of the Commander.
4.1 Options
You can adjust the different signal options by the DIP-switches of the multiplexer (see fig. 4 and table on page 8). The
adjusted position of the DIP-switch is read when switching on the module or by a short pressure on the key "address".
The multiplexer takes over the adjustments and registers the connected signal again. The signal is blinking shortly during
this recognition procedure. In case that the multiplexer is connected to a Commander by the LSB, the options can also
be adjusted from the Commander.
4.2 Adjustment of the line speed
The permissible track speed allowed from this main signal on – indicated by the supplementary signal indication Zs3 of
the Viessmann Ks-signals – can be adjusted by the DIP-switch.
