Setting up the Charger
1. If fi ted, remove the Battery (6) from the Battery Charger (14) (Fig. II (b))
2. Connect the Battery Charger to the mains power supply
Note: The Green LED (16) on the Battery Charger will illuminate to indicate that the Charger is
powered.
WARNING: The Battery Charger is designed for indoor use only and must not be exposed to
moisture and rain.
Charging the Battery
WARNING: Failure to follow the correct procedure when charging the Battery (6) will result in
permanent damage.
Note: Normal charging time is 1 hour for a recently fully-discharged Battery, but if the Battery has
been left in a discharged state for some time, it may take extended time to charge.
1. Slide a discharged or partially discharged Battery onto the Battery Charger (14) (Fig. II (a))
Note: Make sure the Battery and Battery Charger are lined up correctly. If the Battery does not slide
onto the Battery Charger easily, don't force it. Instead, remove the Battery, then check that the top of
the Battery and the Battery Charger slot are clean and undamaged and that the Charger Terminals
(17) are not bent.
2. Once charging commences, only the Red LED (15) will illuminate
Note: If the Red LED is not constantly illuminated after an uncharged Battery is inserted into the
Charger, the Battery or Charger may be faulty. Recheck the Battery is fully inserted in the Battery
Charger. If the fault persists do not use and contact your authorised Silverline distributer.
3. When the Battery is fully-charged, only the Green LED (16) will be illuminated
Battery Charge Level
The Battery has a built-in Battery Charge Indicator (8). Pressing on the button to the right will indicate
the charge level. The number of bars that illuminate when the button is pressed indicate the charge
level; 1 bar indicating a low charge, 3 bars indicating a full charge.
IMPORTANT: When a low charge level is indicated, be aware the tool may stop operating while in
use. This may be dangerous. It is recommended to always ensure the Battery has a good charge level.
Notes about battery charging
IMPORTANT: Batteries are an expendable supply whose capacity shortens over time. Always adhere
to the correct handling and charging instructions in the manual. If the battery does not hold charge or
working time is shortened, purchase a genuine Silverline replacement.
• The battery should be charged at ambient temperatures between 10°C and 40°C (ideally around
20°C)
• After charging, allow 15 minutes for the battery to cool before use
• Ensure that the charger is disconnected from the mains supply after use, and is stored correctly
• Do not leave batteries on charge for extended periods and never store batteries on charge
• The charger monitors battery temperature and voltage while charging. Remove the battery once
charging has been completed to maximise charge cycles of the battery and not waste power
• Batteries can become faulty over time, individual cells in the battery can fail, and the battery
could short. The charger will not charge faulty batteries. Use another battery, if possible, to check
correct functionality of the charger and purchase a replacement battery if a faulty battery is
indicated
• Do not store Lithium-ion battery packs in a discharged state long term. This can damage the
Lithium-ion cells. For long-term storage, store batteries in a high charge state disconnected from
the power tool
• The capacity of batteries will reduce over time. After 100 charge cycles, the battery's operation
time and the performance will slightly reduce. This decline will continue until the battery has
minimal capacity after 500 charge cycles. This is normal and not a fault with the battery pack
Selecting the right grade of Sanding Disc
Note: Always use good quality Sanding Discs to maximise the quality of the finished task. Always test
the Sanding Disc on a scrap piece of material to determine whether it is suitable for the intended task:
• Coarse (60 grit) for use on rough material
• Medium (120 grit) for smoothing off
• Fine (240 grit) for finishin
Note: DO NOT use Sanding Discs designed for wet sanding.

Fitting a Sanding Disc to the Sanding Pad
1. Remove any dust or debris from the Sanding Pad (12), before fi ting a Sanding Disc (10)
2. Select the required Sanding Disc for your intended task
3. Align the dust extraction holes in the Sanding Disc with the holes in the Sanding Pad (Fig. III)
Warning: Failure to align the holes on the Sanding Disc with the holes on the Sanding Pad will cause
dust to build up on the Sanding Disc and reduce its service life.
4. Press the Sanding Disc onto the Sanding Pad to attach it
Note: The Sanding Pad and Sanding Disc use a hook and loop system for attachment
5. Run the tool briefl to check the Sanding Pad is secure
6. To remove a Sanding Disc, slowly peel it away from the Sanding Pad (Fig. IV)
Fitting/removing the Dust Bag
WARNING: Remove and DO NOT use the Dust Bag (7) when sanding metal. Hot metal particles
and sparks could ignite residual wood dust or cause the Dust Bag to catch fire.
1. Fitting: Align the pins on the Dust Bag's bayonet fi ting with the grooves in the Dust Port (9), then
insert into the Dust Port and twist clockwise (Fig. V)
2. Removing: Twist the Dust Bag fi ting anticlockwise and pull to remove it from the Dust Port
Emptying the Dust Bag
IMPORTANT: For optimum dust removal, empty the Dust Bag when it is no more than half full.
1. Remove the Dust Bag from the tool
2. Unhook the elasticated neck of the Dust Bag from the groove in the Dust Bag housing (Fig. VI)
3. Slide the Dust Bag over the internal wire frame
4. Empty the bag
5. Re-assembly
Operation
WARNING: ALWAYS wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection,
dust mask and gloves when working with this tool.
Switching ON & OFF
1. Hold the tool firmly by the Top Handle (2) and Front Handle (13)
2. Move the ON/OFF Switch (1) to the 'I' position, to switch the tool ON
3. Move the ON/OFF Switch to the 'O' position, to switch the tool OFF
Sanding
WARNING: The dust produced from working with some materials can be toxic. Beech, oak,
mahogany and teak natural woods, man-made composite woods and some surface treatments,
including paint with lead, are toxic. Lead-based paint is common in buildings built before 1960.
Always wear suitable respiratory protection; for example, a respirator face mask. Use a dust extraction
system or regularly vacuum the work area to prevent the build-up of dust. In addition, vacuum the
work area after the work has been completed. Most dust is a fire hazard. Overhead work surfaces have
an increased safety risk for dust.
WARNING: Do not touch the moving Sanding Disc.
WARNING: Ensure foreign objects, such as nails and screws, are removed from the workpiece
before starting to sand.
• Allow the tool to reach the required speed before making contact with the workpiece.
• Move the machine in a circular motion over the workpiece surface, applying an even, moderate
pressure until you reach the desired surface finis
• The removal rate and the sanding pattern are determined by the type of Sanding Disc (10) and
the applied pressure
• Pay particular attention to applying uniform sanding pressure; this increases the working life of
the Sanding Discs
• Excessive pressure does not result in more effective or faster sanding capacity, but will cause
premature wear of the Sanding Disc and increase wear and tear on the tool
• Regularly brush down or vacuum the surface being sanded to ensure the Sanding Disc is in
direct contact with the surface
• Wait until the machine has stopped completely before putting it down.
IMPORTANT: Do not continue to use worn, torn or heavily clogged sanding discs.
WARNING: A Sanding Disc that has been used for sanding metal should not be used for sanding
other materials.
