The occupation of the connection cables is as follows:

The earth has to be connected!
If the device will be directly connected with the local power supply network, a disconnection switch with a
minimum opening of 3 mm at every pole has to be included in the permanent electrical installation.
The device must only be connected with an electric installation carried out in compliance with the IEC-
standards. The electric installation must be equipped with a Residual Current Device (RCD) with a maximum
fault current of 30 mA.

6.3 Switching on phantom power

In order to operate phantom-powered microphones, it is possible to switch on a 12 V phantom power
separately for each of the eight channels. To switch on phantom power, set the corresponding DIP switches
to position ON.
Caution! Only switch on phantom power for microphones that require phantom power. If in doubt, please
contact your microphone manufacturer.
The phantom power must only be activated if all microphones are connected and all output controls are
set to minimum position. During the stabilization phase (approx. 1 minute), you must not connect or dis-
connect any mics or adjust output volumes. Otherwise danger of speaker damage.

6.4 Feed-through input / output

For parallel connection of a further MLM-81, use the feed-through PRE FADE OUT. Connect output of unit
one to input AUX BUS IN of unit two. Note that only the control MASTER LEVEL on unit two will now
function.

6.5 Converting inputs to outputs

The line input on a channel can be converted into a line output and e.g. could be connected to the input of
another mixing console.
To convert inputs to outputs, the unit must be opened. This is a electric installation which must only be
1. Disconnect the unit from the mains.
2. Unscrew the housing cover.
3. Inside you will see a row of jumpers. Move the jumper for the desired channel to pins 2 and 3. Now that
channel's line input is converted to a line output.
Caution! After a conversion, do not connect the output of a mixer or any other signal source to the
corresponding channel. Otherwise, the MLM-81and the units connected may be damaged.
4. Tightly screw the housing cover again before reconnecting the unit to the mains.
5. We recommend to mark the jacks converted to line outputs accordingly!
