information in these operating instructions. Always read this information carefully.
The arrow symbol indicates special information and tips on how to use the product.
The product should only be used in dry, indoor locations. It must not get damp or

instructions. If you do not follow the safety information and information on
proper handling in these operating instructions, we will assume no liability for
any resulting personal injury or damage to property. Such cases will invalidate
the warranty/guarantee.
Caution, safety hazard!
The product should only be installed by people with relevant electrical knowl-
edge and experience! *)
If it is not installed properly, you risk:
• your own life
• and the life of user of the electrical device.
If it is not installed properly, you risk severe damage to property, e.g., by fire.
You face the risk of personal liability for personal injury and material damage.
Always consult an electrician!
*) Technical knowledge required to perform the installation:
For the installation, the following specialist knowledge is required in particular:
• The "Five safety rules": Disconnect from the mains; protect against accidental
switch-on; ensure there is no voltage; earth and short-circuit; cover or protect
neighbouring live parts.
• Use suitable tools, measuring devices and personal protective equipment, where
necessary.
• Analyse measurement results.
• Use electrical installation materials to ensure the turn-off criteria.
• IP protection ratings
• Install electrical installation materials
• Type of power supply (TN system, IT system, TT system) and the correspond-
ing connection criteria (classic earthing, protective earthing, necessary additional
measures etc.)
Product connection/installation should be entrusted to a professional unless
you have expertise or specialist knowledge.
a) General information
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is prohibited
for safety and approval reasons. Do not open or disassemble the product (only
observe the connection and installation procedure described in these operating
instructions)! It does not contain any internal parts that need to be adjusted or
maintained by you.
• Maintenance, adjustment or repair work may only be carried out by an expert/
authorised service centre, which is familiar with the hazards involved and the rel-
evant regulations.
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children! There
is a danger of life-threatening electric shock! Install the product out of the reach
of children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high
humidity, moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Always comply with the accident prevention regulations for electrical equipment
when using the product in industrial facilities.
• Do not leave the packaging material lying around carelessly as it may be a danger
to children.
• Handle the product with care, because it can be damaged by jolts, impacts or a
fall from a low height.
• Consult a technician if you are not sure how to use or connect the product, or if
you have concerns about safety.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs must be carried out by a technician or a
specialist repair centre.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions,
contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.
b) Installation/connection
• Ensure that the insulation of the housing is neither damaged nor destroyed.
• A multi-phase circuit breaker must be installed, e.g. a ground fault circuit interrupt-
er. There must be an appropriately dimensioned fuse or circuit breaker between
the GFCI and the product.
• Installation and connection may only be carried out in a de-energised/currentless
state. Switch off the corresponding circuit breaker and GFCI so that the mains
supply is disconnected from mains voltage on all poles. Protect it against an un-
authorised switch-on, e.g. with a danger sign. Check to ensure that there is no
voltage with a suitable measuring device (e.g. a digital multimeter).
• Make sure you observe the prescribed safety distances between live parts and
other housing components/cables.
• Never put the product into operation immediately after it has been brought from a
cold room into a warm one (for example, during transport). The resulting conden-
sation may destroy the product or cause an electric shock!
Let the product reach room temperature first. Wait until the condensation has
evaporated; this may take several hours. Only then may the product be mounted
and connected to the mains.
• Do not use the product in rooms that are under adverse environmental conditions,
where combustible gases, vapours or dust are or may be present! This may cause
an explosion!
• The maximum connected load of the IR switch (see chapter "Specifications") must
not be exceeded.
c) Operation
• The product must only be used when mounted in a fixed location.
• Only use the product in temperate climates. It is not suitable for use in tropical
climates.
• Do not use the product if it is damaged. Risk of life-threatening electric shock!
• If it can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible, the device must be
turned off and precautions must be taken to ensure that it is not used unintention-
ally. Do not touch the product.
First, switch off the mains voltage to all poles (switch off the connected circuit
breaker or remove the fuse and then switch off the connected GFCI).
Then, arrange for a skilled electrician to check the product.
• Safe operation can no longer be assumed if:
- the product shows visible signs of damage
- the product does not work at all or does not work properly (flickering light, smoke
or a smell of burning, audible crackling noises, or discolouration of the product
or of adjacent surfaces)
- the product was stored under unfavourable conditions
