Installation and connection

Follow the information in the "Safety instructions". In case of doubt, have the instal-
lation and connection performed by a specialist.
The IR switch should not be mounted near a radiator, otherwise the sensor would
not be able to recognise whether the heat is produced by the hand or the back-
ground.
• The IR switch is designed to be mounted and operated only in a flush-mounted box (60 mm)
or a suitable surface-mounted box.
• Use a suitable mains cable (e.g. NYM-J) with a cross section of 1.5 mm².
• The IR switch must be housed in a sub-distribution unit (not included) equipped with a
10/16 A fuse. A fault-current circuit breaker (ground fault circuit interrupter) must be installed
before it. The device must be de-energised during installation and connection.
• Isolate all poles of the mains cable from the mains supply by removing the electric circuit fuse
or switching off the circuit breaker. Then turn off the fault-current circuit breaker. Protect it
against an unauthorised switch-on, e.g. with a danger sign.
• Check that the mains cable is free of current, e.g. with an appropriate testing device.
• While holding the IR switch on the rear rounded part of the housing, pull the front cover off
forward (the two parts are clipped together). Do not use any force.
• The IR switch has three connection terminals on its back, which can be used for connect-
ing the mains cable and consumers (lamps / lighting fixtures). Make sure you observe the
connection diagram on the housing. The individual wires must be stripped 7 mm each and
screwed tight accordingly:
Connection L = phase (brown cable)
Connection N = neutral conductor (blue cable)
Connection L' = switched phase for consumers (lamps / lighting fixtures)
Consumers that require protective earth connection must be connected separately
(the IR switch has no respective screw terminal).
• Insert the IR switch into the flush-mounted / surface-mounted box (the inscription "TOP"
embossed in the metal sheet must point upwards). The IR switch can be fixed either with the
two claws on the left and right or with the screw openings above/below or on the left/right.
Make sure the cables are not pinched or damaged while inserting the IR switch into
the flush-mounted / surface-mounted box.
• Replace the front cover so that it clicks into place (the hand symbol must be on the bottom).
• Switch on the mains voltage.
• The IR switch is now ready for use.

Operation

Bring your hand in front of the round, black central part of the IR switch (max. distance is 6 cm).
The IR switch will turn the connected consumer (lamp / lighting fixture) on or off.
The IR switch is less responsive at higher ambient temperatures since the tempera-
ture difference between your hand and the background is less pronounced. Gloved
hand makes that temperature difference almost unrecognisable by the IR switch.

Cleaning and maintenance

The product requires no user maintenance, so never disassemble it (only observe the instal-
lation procedure described in these operating instructions). Servicing or repair may only be
carried out by a specialist.
Wipe the front panel of the product with a dry, soft, clean cloth. Do not use any aggressive
detergents as these can lead to discolouration.
Note that the connected consumer will turn on and off as you wipe the front panel.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be placed in household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statu-
tory regulations.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to environmental protection.
