could cause the saw to jump backwards, but kick-
back forces can be controlled by the operator, if
proper precautions are taken
• When blade is binding, or when interrupting
a cut for any reason, release the trigger and
hold the saw motionless in the material until the
blade comes to a complete stop. Never attempt
to remove the saw from the work or pull the saw
backward while the blade is in motion or kick-
back may occur. Investigate and take corrective
actions to eliminate the cause of blade binding
• When restarting a saw in the workpiece, cen-
tre the saw blade in the kerf and check that saw
teeth are not engaged into the material. If saw
blade is binding, it may walk up or kickback from the
workpiece as the saw is restarted
• Support large panels to minimise the risk of
blade pinching and kickback. Large panels tend to
sag under their own weight Supports must be placed
under the panel on both sides, near the line of cut and
near the edge of the panel (See proper operation in
figure 16.2 and faulty operation in figure 16.1).
• Do not use dull or damaged blades. Unsharp-
ened or improperly set blades produce narrow kerf
causing excessive friction, blade binding and kick-
back
• Blade depth and bevel adjusting locking
levers must be tight and secure before making
cut. If blade adjustment shifts while cutting, it may
cause binding and kickback
• Use extra caution when sawing into existing
walls or other blind areas. The protruding blade
may cut objects that can cause kickback
Safety instructions for saws with outer pendulum
guard, with inner pendulum guard, with tow guard
• Check lower guard for proper closing before
each use. Do not operate the saw if lower guard
does not move freely and close instantly. Never
clamp or tie the lower guard into the open
position. If saw is accidentally dropped, lower guard
may be bent Raise the lower guard with the retracting
handle and make sure it moves freely and does not
touch the blade or any other part, in all angles and
depths of cut
• Check the operation of the lower guard spring.
If the guard and the spring are not operating
properly, they must be serviced before use. Lower
guard may operate sluggishly due to damaged parts,
gummy deposits, or a build-up of debris
• Lower guard may be retracted manually only for
special cuts such as "plunge cuts" and "compound
cuts". Raise lower guard by retracting handle and as
soon as blade enters the material, the lower guard
must be released For all other sawing, the lower guard
should operate automatically
• Always observe that the lower guard is covering
the blade before placing saw down on bench or
floor. An unprotected, coasting blade will cause the
saw to walk backwards, cutting whatever is in its path
Be aware of the time it takes for the blade to stop after
switch is released
Caution! Chemical substances contained
in some dust particles generated during
sand, saws, grinding, drilling or other
construction activities may cause cancer,
birth defect or harm to fertility.
WARNING! Chemical substances contained in some
dust particles generated during sand, saws, grinding,
drilling or other construction activities may cause
cancer, birth defect or harm to fertility Take some
chemical substances for example:
• Lead-based paint
• Transparent silicon dioxide contained in the
bricks, cement and other stone products
• Hazard level of arsenic and chromium produced
in chemically treated wood depends on frequency of
such kind of work In order to avoid getting in touch
with such chemical substances: since the hazard de-
pends on the time you spend on such kind of work, you
should avoid contact with such chemical compositions
• Please work in well ventilated conditions
• Please wear approved protective equipment
during work such as dust mask with the design of
filtering tiny dusts.
Supplementary instructions for use of circular saw
• When using the power tool, you should pay attention
to the following points:
• the saw blade shall be intact without deformation,
crimp and lack of saw tooth or fracture;
• no saw blade made of high speed steel shall be
used;
• no blade of any grinding wheel shall be used for
the tool;
• saw blade not conforming to stipulations in the in-
structions shall not be used;
• do not exert lateral pressure on disk of the saw
blade to stop the saw blade;
• ensure correct operation of retraction mechanism
in all protection system;
• before change, adjustment or other maintenance
work is carried out, the plug shall be pulled out from
the power supply
• When the power tool is used, advance speed shall
be controlled at a moderate level according to materi-
als of different hardness
• When the power tool is used, no foreign matter such
as iron nail is allowed in processed wood; in case of
hard woody lump, advance speed shall be decreased
• When protective cover is removed, operation is pro-
hibited
• Saw blade shall be kept clean and sharp to reduce
the breakdown and rebound to the minimum
• DANGER! During operation, your hands must get
away from the sawing area and shall not touch the saw
blade When the saw blade is rotating, the workpiece
shall not be inserted When the saw blade is still rotat-
ing, you shall not fetch the machined parts with hands
• Be sure to clench the power tool tightly with hands
Do not put your hand or fingers behind the circular saw.
If rebound occurs, the circular saw is likely to jump
back into your hands thus resulting in severe personal
injury (faulty operation is indicated in figure 20.1).
• When cutting is carried out, wider base portion of
circular saw shall be placed on stably supported part
of the workpiece rather than on the part to be cut down
(proper operation is indicated in figure 20.2; fault op-
eration is indicated in figure 20.3). If the workpiece is
very short or small, it should be clamped Do not make
an attempt to support short workpiece with hands
• Circular saw shall not be used upside down for saw-
ing operation because it is very dangerous and may
even cause severe accident (as shown in figure 21).
