n Handling, shipment and Storage
• Some instruments have a weight or form of packaging which causes the need for special precautions to avoid injuries
or accidents when lifting or transporting the instruments. If this is the case your company regulations on safe working
practices should be followed. The instruments should be stored in their packaging in a dry place at moderate temperatures
until installation, treated with care to avoid shocks or vibrations (consult the manual of the instrument for detailed storage
condition).
n Installation and commissioning
• All persons, who will use the instrument, must be thoroughly familiar with the specific settings for the application, enabled
functionality and, where relevant, any operational risks. Users must contact their system integrator or supplier when the
instrument or any related issues do not meet expectations.
• The instrument must be installed only in applications and for purposes which comply with the instrument's general
specifications and certificates. The instrument must be installed and commissioned in accordance with the instructions as
stated in the relevant manual of the instrument.
• When unpacking the instrument, verify that it meets the specific applications, is intact and undamaged by a visual inspection.
An instrument that is not of the type ordered, or is damaged or incomplete shall not be installed or used. If this happens you
should contact your system integrator or supplier.
• The instrument should be installed in appropriate locations so that you can immediately remove the power cord or turn off the
power if an abnormal or dangerous condition occurs.
• If applicable, to avoid an electric shock the instrument should be electrically grounded.
• If there is no AC outlet that is compatible with the power cable and you cannot ground the instrument, do not use the
instrument.
• Unless it is allowed or special instructions exist, you should always turn off the power of the device under measurement
before connecting the device to the instrument. It is extremely dangerous to connect or disconnect a measuring lead while the
instrument is powered.
• It is extremely dangerous to use the instrument outside the rating specified in the GS and/or the manual of the instrument.
• If a metal part is exposed from the inside of the cable or if a different color from the outer covering of the cable is exposed, you
should stop using the cable immediately.
• If the instrument complies with Class A of EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) standards, the operation of the instrument in a
residential area may cause radio interference in which case the appropriate measures by the user will be required.
• This instrument may be compliant with applicable standards under specific conditions of use. If the installation method and
wiring method do not meet the conditions, the conformity to the standards may not be satisfied.
• When the instrument can be used in a hazardous environment, the descriptions/sections related to the explosion protection in
the manual of the instrument should be read very carefully for safe installation, wiring and special condition of use.
Information especially for system integrators, technicians, ...
• After installation/commissioning the end user should receive information about the specific functionality for the application and
the instrument's settings.
• When the operation of the instrument is explained to the end-user they should also receive this document, all other specific
documents accompanying the instrument, relevant information about the installation/commissioning of the instrument and any
interfaces with other systems or equipment.
n Service (maintenance, replacement, repair and modification)
• Modification of the instrument is strictly prohibited unless authorized by YOKOGAWA. If modifications to the instrument or
replacement of parts is permitted, they must be carried out by trained and authorized personnel by YOKOGAWA. Failure to
comply with this requirement voids all applicable certifications.
