AMBIENT LIGHTING - NOTES FOR INSTALLATION AND SPLICING PROCEDURE

CAUTION: LED lights, light engines and wiring should be routed and secured out of driver and passenger view.
NOTICE: Components mounted and spliced onto the vehicle must not interfere with vehicle operation, moving
vehicle components etc.. ALWAYS test fit components prior to drilling, splicing, mounting to ensure proper
clearance and/or operation.
NOTICE: Do not attempt to drill into trim panels with an acrylic coating. Damage to the trim panel may result.
If the specified trim has an acrylic coating you must find an alternative mounting location.
NOTICE: This kit requires a constant 12V supply input and cannot be connected to any pulse width
modulated lamp or dimmed circuit. Check circuit for proper voltage/function prior to performing splicing
procedure. Refer to vehicle specific wire diagrams for additional information.
NOTE: Before splicing, disconnect battery ground. Follow Workshop Manual Procedures.
NOTE: Refer to Workshop Manual procedures for vehicle trim and component removal and installation procedures.
NOTE: Review wire chart for specific vehicle/connector power splicing locations.
- Column "A" is vehicle line, column "B" is electrical connector number, column "C" is connector pin number,
column "D" is wire color.
NOTE: Before mounting switch to the 11/16 in (17.5 mm) hole, two notches must be filed to allow the switch
tabs to pass through.
LIGHT ENGINE MOUNTING:
- Use two sided tape and screws to secure to panel.
MODULE MOUNTING:
- Use two sided tape to mount to panel, secure with tie straps, if required.
GROUND LOCATION:
- On Vehicles with aluminum body, do not connect the ground to aluminum surface/body. Either connect to the BCM
ground stud or to another suitable ground location on the instrument panel (non-aluminum).
- Connect the black ground wire from the ambient lighting harness to a suitable ground location.
SPLICING:
- Prior to splicing the power wire, connect the ambient lighting ground wire/eyelet to a nearby suitable body
ground point, following the guidelines above.
1. Strip approximately 0.75 in (19.1 mm) of insulation from the ambient lighting power wire to be spliced to vehicle wire.
2. On the vehicle wire to be spliced into, carefully spread 0.5 in (12.7 mm) of insulation from the wire
- Inspect the wire for broken strands. If broken strands are refer to wire diagrams for repair procedures.
3. Tightly wrap the new wire around the vehicle wire. Solder the wire together.
4. Wrap the connection with at least two layers of Coroplast PVC adhesive Tape (or equivalent) so the
tape covers the wires approximately 2 in (50.8 mm).
- In possible wet areas such as near carpet or floor, use mastic patch or liquid sealing.
