Importance of Backup

Your data is important. Always have an extra copy of your data in a different location. Regular backups
can protect your data from equipment failures and accidents.
This product includes a copy of Acronis True Image HD on the utility DVD. This program can be useful in
creating backups of your Windows computer. Refer to page 14 for more information.
Caution
Please back up your data regularly.

Backup Media

Many types of media can be used for backup, including the following:
• Network (LAN) Server • Additional Hard Drives
• DVD-R/RW • DVD+R/RW • DVD-RAM • CD-R/RW • Floppy Disks
• Magneto-Optical Disks (MO)
If you choose the floppy disk as a backup destination, you will need a lot of floppy disks to back up a
hard drive. Larger media such as an external hard drive is more practical.
Restoring from a backup
Consult your backup utility's documentation for instructions on restoring your data from a backup.
This section describes the maintenance for a hard drive or this unit using Window's built-in tool.
Check errors on a drive (Scan Disk)
Windows has a tool which checks for drive errors. This tool can repair errors. To use the hard disk safely,
check your drive regularly.
