3.2 Qualification of the personnel

An appropriately qualified specialist is required for the activities described in this operating
manual. This applies in particular to work in the areas of
- Product selection, project planning
- Assembly/disassembly of the device
- Installation
- Commissioning
- Maintenance, repair, cleaning
Specialists who carry out these activities must have a level of knowledge that includes
relevant national standards and regulations. Further knowledge is required for activities in
potentially explosive atmospheres!
R. STAHL recommends a level of knowledge described in the following standards:
- IEC/EN 60079-14 (Design, selection and installation of electrical systems)
- IEC/EN 60079-17 (Inspection and maintenance of electrical installations)
- IEC/EN 60079-19 (Equipment repair, overhaul and regeneration)

3.3 Residual risks

3.3.1 Explosion hazard

In potentially explosive atmospheres, an explosion hazard cannot be completely ruled out
despite the fact that the device is designed in accordance with the current state of the art.
Always carry out all work steps in the potentially explosive atmosphere with the
utmost care!
Only transport, store and operate the device in compliance with the technical
data (see chapter "Technical data").
Possible hazardous situations ("residual risks") can be differentiated according to the
following causes:
Mechanical damage
The device may be damaged during transport, assembly or commissioning. Such damage
can, among other things, partially or completely nullify the explosion protection of the
device. Explosions with fatal or serious injuries to persons may result.
Only transport the device in special transport packaging which protects the device
from external influences. When selecting the transport packaging observe the
ambient conditions (see chapter "Technical data").
Do not place any load on the device.
Check the packaging and the device for damage. Report any damage immediately to
R. STAHL. Do not operate damaged device.
Store the device in its original packaging, dry (no condensation), in a stable position
and safe from from shocks.
Do not damage housing and seals during installation.
Excessive heating or electrostatic charge
Faulty setup in the control cabinet, operation outside approved conditions or improper
cleaning can cause the unit to heat up excessively, build up electrostatic charge and thus
cause sparks. Explosions with fatal or serious injuries to persons may result.
Operate the device only within the specified operating conditions (see
marking on the device and chapter "Technical data").
Only connect or combine devices in the prescribed manner.
Clean the device only with a damp cloth.
Do not paint the unit. Before repairing scratches, for example, consult R.
