Interpreting the fence indicator lights
The fence indicator lights tell you when there is something wrong with your fence.
If the Heavy load indicator is on, disconnect the energizer from the mains power supply, then
check the fence to see if a branch has fallen on it or something has become entangled in the
fence. Check for shorting on the fence and on the lead out wire connecting the energizer to the
fence. Use a Fault Finder or a Fence Remote with Fault Finder to assist you.
If the Light load indicator is on, check the fence to make sure that no grass or undergrowth is
touching the fence.
Monitoring the earth (optional)
The quality of the earth affects the fence voltage. The earth monitoring feature allows you to con-
stantly see how the earth system is performing, in order to get the best results from your electric
fence.
The earth monitoring feature works by comparing the voltage of the energizer's main earth system
with the voltage of a separate earth rod. Ensure that the separate earth rod is at least 10 m (33')
away from any other earth system including the energizer's main earth system.
Locate the earth rod in the opposite direction to the lead out wire. Drive one 2 m (6'6") earth
rod into the ground. Use high-voltage, insulated underground fence cable and an earth clamp to
connect the earth rod and the energizer's Fence earth monitor terminal.
