Accident prevention
Before initial operation of the booster pump the legal
regulation - in Germany Directive for the use of pressure
vessels (DGRL) and technical regulations for pressur-
ized gases (TRG) - must be observed.
With oxygen booster pumps there is a risk of fire. Oxy-
gen-carrying parts of the booster pump must be kept
free from oil and grease. No open fire or smoking in
rooms where oxygen is being handled or oxygen might
escape. Keep working clothes free from oil and grease.
Clothes that got into contact with oil and grease must
be changed. Clothes soaked with oxygen must be
changed or aerated before handling open fire or in the
event of the presence of other ignition sources. Oil,
grease and other materials that are not suitable for use
with oxygen can deflagrate in combination with oxygen
and lead to serious injury.

WARNING
Open all valves slowly and fully to prevent the produc-
tion of heat due to pressure shocks.
In accordance with the legal regulations in Germany, fill-
ing systems must only be operated and serviced by per-
sons who are at least 18 years old, have the required
expertise and can be expected to fulfil their tasks
reliably.
Employees are to be informed and instructed before op-
erating the unit and on a recurring basis at regular inter-
vals – at least once a year. They must be instructed in
relation to the special risks when handling pressurized
gases and oxygen and the safety regulations. They
must know the measures to be taken in case of failures,
damage and accidents. They must be instructed in rela-
tion to the handling of fire extinguishing equipment and
protective equipment and in relation to operation and
servicing.
Only charge intact gas cylinders.
Only pressurized gas cylinders that comply with the
valid regulations and legal requirements at the installa-
tion site may be charged. According to the occupational
safety directive and TRG 402, for example, only pres-
surized gas cylinders that bear the test mark and test
stamp of the expert as well as the test period may be
charged. The test period must not have expired. The
pressurized gas cylinders must not show any damage
that might endanger other persons. The pressurized
gas cylinders must have been approved for the intended
operating pressure (charging pressure).
If the accessories for pressurized gas cylinders do not
bear the test mark and test stamp of the expert, the
pressurized gas cylinders may only be charged if these
accessories have been approved based on the design.
Larger pressurized gas cylinders (diameter greater than
140 mm, volume greater than 7 l), pressurized gas cyl-
inders with foot and cylinder manifolds that cannot be
connected directly to the respective charging connec-
tion because of their weight should be put onto the floor,
secured against movement and be connected via
a charging hose (accessory).
