Recessed floor light with 33 LEDs
Item-No. 57 21 57
Intended use
The recessed floor light is intended for illumination of courtyards and garden paths in unshield-
ed exterior areas.
Any other use than that described above can damage the product. Moreover, this can involve
hazards such as short-circuit, fire, electric shock, etc. No part of the product may be modified
or rebuilt!
The safety instructions must be observed at all times!
This product complies with the applicable National and European specifications.

Safety instructions
Please read all the instructions before using this device, they include
important information on the correct operation.
In case of damage incurred by disregarding this instruction manual, the
warranty claim is void. We do not assume any liability for any damage aris-
ing as a consequence!
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions. The warranty
is voided in these cases.
• For safety and licensing (CE) reasons, unauthorised conversion of, and/or mod-
ifications to the product are not permitted.
• The device must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or
heavy mechanical stress.
• Keep the recessed floor light out of the reach of children! There is a risk of a fatal
electric shock.
• The device is designed according to safety class I.
• The recessed floor light is only to be operated with a supply voltage of
230V~/50Hz. Never try to operate the recessed floor light with a different volt-
age, this will destroy it.
• Do not use the recessed floor light in rooms or under adverse ambient condi-
tions where combustible gases, vapours or dust are or may be present!
• The recessed floor light is protected according to IP67.
The first number „6" indicates complete protection against contact with parts
under voltage or inner moving parts and protection against penetration by dust.
The second number „8" indicates that water cannot penetrate in damaging
quantities, when the equipment is submerged under defined circumstances.
• To avoid eye injuries, do not look at the light source or point the light at persons
or animals.
• Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around since this may
become a dangerous toy for children.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the employer's
liability insurance association for electrical systems and operating facilities are
to be observed!
Preparations for Installation
The recessed floor light may only be installed by a qualified technician who
is familiar with the relevant regulations (e.g. VDE, German electrical wiring
regulations).
Version 05/08
°
Improper work carried out at the mains voltage endangers not only your life
but also the life of others!
If you do not have the expertise required for the installation, do not install
it yourself but ask a qualified technician.
Please note:
• The recessed floor light is intended for floor mounting, e.g. in garden paths.
• The recessed floor light can be mounted and operated in unshielded outdoor areas due to
the design and the IP67 protection class.
Do not operate the recessed floor light in or under water.
• The recessed floor light must be secured on the subdistribution board provided by user by
a 10/16A fuse.
An earth leakage circuit breaker must be installed before this, (FI protective switch).
• The recessed floor light must be disconnected from the power supply during installation.
It is not enough to just turn off the light switch!
Turn the power off and remove the electric circuit fuse or switch off the circuit breaker.
Assure it against an unauthorised re-start, e.g. with a danger sign.
• Check that the mains connection is free of current e.g. with an appropriate tester.
Mounting
Pay attention to the information in the chapter on „Mounting preparations"!
• Choose the appropriate mounting position for the mounting sleeve.
Pay attention to the right orientation of the mounting sleeve when you want to allign the Allen
screw of the stainless steel cover e.g. with the edge of a building.
Check the correct height of the stainless steel cover of the recessed floor light before fixing
it and insert the mounting sleeve proportionally deep.
When the mounting sleeve is mounted professionally (e.g. set in concrete) the recessed
floor light can be driven across by vehicles (total weight vehicle(s) max. 2.5 tonnes).
However, scratches will increasingly occur on the glass and stainless steel cover!
• Lay the connection cable of the recessed floor light through the mounting sleeve.
Make sure the connection cable is not damaged by the sharp edges of the
mounting sleeve! Pass the connection cable proportionally deep into the ground.
Use an appropriate protective conduit for the cable.
Pass all cables in a way they cannot be damaged e.g. while gardening (digging
a flowerbed).
• Connect the connection cable of the recessed floor light with the mains lead (brown cable =
L, blue cable = N, green/yellow cable = PE/earth).
Use an appropriate terminal box with terminal strip to connect the power cable of the
recessed floor light with the mains lead.
Observe the operation instructions of the terminal box, whether this is appropriate
or not for mounting and operating in unshielded exterior areas (terminal box for
exterior areas according to IP67 required).
In case of doubt, contact a qualified technician and do not carry out the connec-
tion and mounting yourself.
The protective earth must be connected to the recessed floor light! When the
recessed floor light is substituting another existing light and no protective earth
conductor is available, the light must not be mounted. Lay a new feeder before-
hand.
In case no protective earth conductor is connected, the mains voltage might acci-
dently charge the metal housing of the recessed floor light. There is the risk of a
life-threatening electric shock!
• Unscrew the Allen screws of the stainless steel cover and remove it.
Subsequently the recessed floor light can be screwed into the mounting sleeve with appro-
priate screws.
• Replace the stainless steel cover and tighten it again.
• Switch on the mains voltage again and make sure that the recessed floor light is functioning.
If the LEDs do not light up, immediately switch off the mains power (take out the
fuse or switch off the circuit breaker).
Thereafter, check the connection of the recessed floor light.
In case of doubt contact a professional (e.g. an electrician).
Care and maintenance
The recessed floor light does not require maintenance. Never take the product apart (except
for performing the work described in this operating manual).
The LED illuminants used have a long durability; they do not need to be resp. cannot be
changed.
Only clean the stainless steel cover and the glass panel with a clean, soft cloth, that may be
dampened with water.
Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions as the surface of the housing
could be damaged (discoloured).
Do not press down too hard on the transparent glass element or the housing, as scratches
might appear.
Handling
If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, disconnect the device
immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation.
It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
- the device shows visible signs of damage
- the device no longer operates
- the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- the device was exposed to extraordinary stress caused by transport.
Disposal
When the product is no longer usable, dispose of it in accordance with the appli-
cable statutory regulations.
