6 General description of the card/ Safety instructions
The card is a double serial interface card RS 422/485.
The output connection of the QUATEC Interface card for PCI Bus is
different to the connection of the MOXA Interface card for EISA
BUS. Please follow the instructions in section 7.3.
The card is provided with a 16 MHz-quartz by the supplier in order to obtain a max.
baud rate of 1 Mbaud.
This is necessary to operate the SICK laser scanners of the LMS 2XX series without an ad-
ditional evaluation unit. The max. baud rate of the scanners is 500 KBaud.

7 Installation and set-up

7.1 Procedure

1. Turn off the PC
2. Set the jumpers/ switches and install the QUATECH card in any free ISA-slot
3. Turn on the PC
4. Configuration ( see section 7.2 )
