1. Operation instructions
The installation and use of electrical appliances
must be carried out with due caution in order
to avoid the risk of fire, electric shock or injury.
The equipment must only be used as described
in these instructions. Any use outside of the
manufacturer recommendations could lead to
damage, fire, shock or injury.
Before using the appliance the instructions
should be read in their entirety and all ap­
propriate handling of the equipment must be
observed.
These instructions should be kept safe-
ly and passed on to any future owner.
In the event of any repair work, hand them
to the qualified installer for his attention.
1.1 Operation
The RTF controls the heat output of your under­
floor heating system.

2. Installation instructions

The installation (electrical work) and commis­
sioning as well as maintenance of this appli­
ance must be carried out only by an approved
qualified installer in accordance with these
instructions.
Only remove the packaging at the place of
installation and take care to ensure that no
accessories remain behind in the packaging
material.
2.1 Instructions and regulations
The appliance must not:
– Be operated in areas which are subject
to the risk of fire or explosion due to
chemicals, dust, gases or vapours;
– Be operated in the immediate vicinity of
pipes or containers which carry or con-
tain combustible or potentially explosive
substances.

After switching on the under­floor heating
with the on/off switch (1) on the RTF and
setting the temperature with the temperature
selection knob (2), the floor will heat up and
stay at the set temperature.
During the heating times the red LED light (3)
will illuminate.
If a separate time­switch is installed in con­
junction with the RTF, the green set­back light
(4), will illuminate during the off periods and
set the temperature to approx. 5 K below the
selected temperature.
1.2 Temperature range limiting
The range of temperatures that can be cho­
sen can be restricted by using the limiters
located beneath the temperature selection
knob. To do this, take the following actions:
– Carefully remove the temperature selection
knob (2) with the help of a screwdriver.
– Remove the locking pin (5) by pulling it out.

• All electrical connection and installation
work must be carried out in accordance
with the VDE regulations (0100), the regula­
tions of the competent water and electricity
supply companies as well as the appropriate
national and regional regulations.
• Follow the data printed on the bottom of the
controller. The stated voltage must be in ac­
cordance with the mains voltage.
• If the heating unit is installed in rooms with
a bath and/or a shower, the range of pro­
tection according to the I.E.E. Regulations­ in
conformity with the information on the unit
rating plate ­ must be taken into account.
• The unit is to be fitted in such a way that
switching and control devices cannot be
touched by anyone in the bath or under the
shower.
If the sensor probe is damaged, short­
circuited or not connected, the heating
system will be switched off.
– Slide the red (maximum) and / or blue
(minimum) plastic disks (6) to the appropri­
ate position e.g. Red – 3 and Blue – 2.
– Replace the locking pin
– Replace the temperature selection knob,
ensuring that the black line is within the
chosen limits before finally pressing into po­
sition.
1.3 Safety instructions
Do not operate the appliance
– in rooms which present fire or explosion
risks as a result of chemicals, dust, gases
or fumes;
– in the immediate vicinity of pipes or con-
tainers which- carry or contain combusti-
ble or potentially explosive substances.
If a part of the controller is damaged or has
fallen down or it was already defect/malfanc­
tioning, it may no be taken in to operation.

2.2 Installing the temperature
sensor
The end of the floor temperature sensor
probe must be sited in the floor, within the ar­
ea of the heating mat. It is recommended that
the sensor and cable are sited within a piece
of trunking or conduit ( See the Operating
and Installation Instructions for the Heating
Mats). The sensor cable can be extended to
up to 50 metres if required.
In the case of a fault live electricity
can be present in the controller or
sensor lead.
2.3 Installing the Controller
The controller is designed to be fitted into
a flush back box with an opening of at least
Ø55 mm.
The controller may be installed separately or
in a group of flat­switches by using the various
frames which belong to the controller.
