Item No. 40 42 91
Prescribed Use
The product serves for the power supply of model railway tracks (for example lighting, control units
or the like).
This product is only approved for connection to 230 V/AC, 50 Hz alternating current. The product
can only be used in dry interiors; it must not get damp or wet.
Any use other than that described above will damage the product and may involve other risks, such
as short-circuit, fire and electric shock. Do not change or modify any part of the product.
Please read the operating instructions completely and observe the safety and operator instruc-
tions before and during use of the product!
This product complies with the national and European legal requirements. All names of compa-
nies and products are trademarks of the respective owner. All rights reserved.

• Operating instructions
Safety Instructions
The warranty/guarantee is rendered invalid when damage is incurred as a
result of non-compliance with the operating instructions! We do not assume
any liability for resulting damage!
We do not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused
by improper handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! Your
warranty/guarantee will expire in any such case!
• The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible
because of safety and approval reasons (CE). Do not open/disassemble it!
• The product conforms to VDE 0570 resp. EN 61558-2-7.
• The product was constructed in protection class II (power supply line without pro-
tection condutor; protective insulation type).
• Use only a 230V~ /50Hz (10/16 A) mains socket (wall mounted connector) as a
current supply. Never try to operate the appliance with any other voltage.
• Two or more transformers must not be connected to the output clamps via parallel
connection. By using a parallel connection a dangerous contact voltage arises
because of the energetic recovery system via the secondary winding at the mains
cable. Danger to life by an electric shock!
• The product is only designed for use in closed, dry indoor locations, it must not
get damp or wet, lethal danger through electric shock!
The product may not be subjected to strong vibrations, heavy mechanical strain or
direct intensive sunlight.
Never plug in or unplug the plug-in power unit with damp or wet hands.
• The operation of the product is only permitted when firmly mounted/steady.
• Take the mains plug by the intended gripping surface only when pulling it out of
the socket. Do not pull the cable.
• The power cable must not be pinched or damaged by sharp edges. Do not place
any objects on the mains cable, do not step on it.
Install the mains cable in a way that no one can stumble over it and that the mains
plug is easily accessible. Do not install the mains cable under carpets or the like.
• Do not use any extension cables, no ballast and no dimmers or the like. Insert the
mains plug directly into e.g. a wall socket.
• If the casing or the mains cable is damaged, do not use the appliance anymore.
Danger to life by an electric shock!
Changing the damaged mains cable is not possible. In this case dispose the
appliance environmentally correctly.
• For reasons of safety, pull the mains plug out of the mains socket before cleaning
the device, during a thunderstorm or when the device will not be used for a lon-
ger period of time.
• Never place the device onto an unstable or moving surface. In falling there is a
danger of injury because of the high weight, and the product will also be damaged.
• Never cover the unit.
• Only use the device in regions with a temperate climate, not in tropical areas.
• Do not leave the packaging material lying around carelessly since it constitutes a
danger to children.

Assembly, connection, initial operation
• Select an appropriate installation location. It has to be even, robust and sufficiently large.
The model railway transformer can be mounted through multiple mounting holes, for example,
with suitable screws.
• The clamps are provided for connection of the power consumer.
Press the clamp button and insert the stripped power cable into the clamp opening. Release
the clamp button again.
• Connect the model railway tranformer mains plug with a mains socket (230 V/AC, 50 Hz), there-
upon the transformer supplies the respective output voltage.
Tips and Instructions
The model railway transformer is supplied with a thermal safety device, which in case of over-
load or overheating will disconnect the power. A reconnecting will take place only after cooling
down and similar mains disconnection. In case of a fault it is also absolutely necessary to discon-
nect the model railway transformer from the power supply. Wait till the model railway transformer
has completely cooled down (min. 30 minutes) before it is reconnected to the mains voltage again.
Maintenance and Cleaning
The product does not require any maintenance. You should never open or disassemble it.
Repairs should only be conducted by a professional.
Before carrying out any cleaning, the model railway transfomer is to be separated from the mains
voltage, pull the mains plug from the mains socket!
Then, the model railway transfomer can be cleaned with a dry, clean, soft cloth. Dust can be very
easily removed with a long-haired, clean brush and a vacuum cleaner.

• Never connect the product directly after transferring it from a cold to a warm room.
Condensation water that forms might destroy the device. Moreover, there is danger
of electric shock. Allow the product to reach room temperature. Wait until the conden-
sation water has evaporated. This might take several hours. Only after this should it
be plugged in to the mains supply and put into use.
• The product is not suitable for commercial use.
• When in doubt about how to connect and how to install the device correctly or
should any questions arise that are not answered in this operating manual, con-
tact our Technical Advisory Service or another expert. Please consult a specialist
if you have any doubts regarding the use or safety of the product.
• Handle the product with care. It can be damaged through impact, blows, or acci-
dental drops, even from a low height.
Observe all other safety instructions and information in this operating manual.
Never fasten screws directly into the product casing. Danger to life by an electric
shock!
Only use the provided mounting holes for mounting!
Pay attention to an adequate cross section of the power cables. There's danger of
overheating and fire due to overload of power cables!
Output voltage is available in both 9 V/AC and 18 V/AC.
Output voltage 9 V/AC: terminal "0" and "9V"
Output voltage 18 V/AC: terminal "0" and "18V"
Ensure that the total current of 8.33 A (and total power 150 VA) is not exceeded,
otherwise the model railway transformer will be overloaded.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statu-
tory regulations.
(total power maximum 150 VA)
