Flexible Impeller pumps need up to 30 seconds to prime –
do not run dry any longer as lack of liquid will damage the
impeller. Ensure suction pipework is airtight or pump will not
self-prime.

The pump may be installed in any position. If installed vertically
the motor should always be above the pump body; this will
prevent liquid dripping onto the motor if there is a seal leak .
Always fit pumps in a dry, well-ventilated position, and as close
as possible to the liquid to be pumped, and where there is full
access to the pump for service.

If in any doubt about pump material compatibility, consult
Jabsco Chemical resistance table or factory. If corrosive
products are pumped, pump life will be prolonged if pump
flushed with water at the end of each work cycle.

Seal leaks should be checked and seals changed as leakage of
chemicals could be dangerous. Prevailing local laws must be
observed at all times when handling hazardous substances.
DO NOT USE ANY JABSCO PUMP FOR PETROL OR PETROLEUM
PRODUCTS OR FLUIDS WITH A FLASHPOINT BELOW 37°C (98°F).
TO DO SO COULD CAUSE AN EXPLOSION RESULTING IN INJURY
OR DEATH.

Always use correctly sized rigid or semi rigid suction pipework
(with smooth internal bore), that will not collapse under
vacuum. A suitable strainer on the inlet pipework should
protect all electric pumps used for clean liquids. Pipe runs
should be kept as straight as possible, avoiding rising and
dipping over obstructions.

If pulley or coupling is a press fit on the shaft, remove end
cover and impeller, and support shaft at impeller end while
pressing drive onto shaft. Belt driven Flexible impeller pumps
must be installed with correct belt tension of 16mm per metre
with pulley contact area of no less than 90°.
EXPOSED PULLEYS AND BELTS CAN CAUSE INJURY.
ALL MOVING PARTS MUST BE GUARDED TO PREVENT
ACCIDENTS. STAY CLEAR WHILE MACHINERY IS OPERATING.
7.
All Marine pumps discharging overboard must be installed with
the overboard discharge well above both static and heeled
waterlines (Sailboats normally discharge through the transom).
