BioPince™ Ultra Full Core Biopsy Instrument
INDICATIONS FOR USE: The disposable, automatic BioPince Ultra Full Core Biopsy
Instrument is used to obtain multiple core samples from soft tissue such as liver, kidney,
abdominal masses, etc.
DEVICE DESCRIPTION: The BioPince Ultra Full Core Biopsy Instrument is a disposable,
automatic biopsy instrument that cuts a full core sample of soft tissue. The instrument is
designed to expel the sample upon re-cocking of the instrument which prepares the instrument
for taking another sample (i.e., ready to be fired). The instrument has a safety slide, a ready
indicator window and two firing trigger buttons. Additionally, each instrument has an adjustable
stroke length (i.e., throw) of three settings:

The instrument is available in 16ga in lengths of 10cm or 15cm; and 18ga in lengths of 10cm,
15cm or 20cm. The instrument can be used with a corresponding co-axial introducer needle.
HOW SUPPLIED:
This product is supplied sterile unless the package has been opened or damaged. Sterilized by
Ethylene Oxide (EO). For Single Use Only. Do Not Resterilize.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Physician judgement is required when considering biopsy on patients
with bleeding disorders or receiving anticoagulant medications.
WARNINGS:
 Reuse or reprocessing has not been evaluated and may lead to its failure and
subsequent patient illness and/or injury. DO NOT reuse, reprocess or re-sterilize this
instrument.
 This instrument has not been tested for safe use under Magnetic Resonance Imaging
systems. The instrument contains ferromagnetic materials.
 The instrument should be used by a physician familiar with the possible side effects,
typical findings, limitations, indications and contraindications of core needle biopsy.
 Use only for core biopsies of soft tissue as determined by a licensed physician.
Attempting to biopsy hard tissue or masses may reduce the performance, causing
damage to the instrument or potentially harm the patient. This instrument is intended for
soft tissue biopsy only.
 These instructions for the BioPince Ultra Full Core Biopsy Instrument are NOT meant to
define or suggest any medical or surgical technique. The individual physician is
responsible for the proper procedure and techniques to be used with this product.
PRECAUTIONS:
 The BioPince Ultra Full Core Biopsy Instrument is available in different needle lengths
and gauges. The appropriate length and gauge of the instrument must be selected for
the procedure, per physician judgment.
 This instrument was designed, tested, and manufactured for single use only.
 Do not bend the needle.
 Do not contact the needle tips to a hard surface while expelling a sample.
 Verify integrity of needle before cocking instrument and after firing(s). If needle is
damaged, appropriately discard the entire instrument (see Disposal section) and
prepare a new instrument. Do not attempt to open the instrument.
 Handle in a manner that will prevent accidental puncture.
 The introduction of the needle into the body should be carried out under imaging control
(ultrasound, CT, etc.)
 This instrument can be used with an appropriate Argon Co-Axial Introducer Needle.
Other manufacturer's co-axial introducer needles have not been tested for compatibility
with the BioPince Ultra Full Core Biopsy Instrument.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Prepare the biopsy site appropriately and locate the target area.
2. Using standard technique, advance the co-axial introducer needle, proximal to the
lesion. Adjust the needle stop proximal to the skin.
Note: If used without co-axial guidance, an incisional dermatotomy is recommended
prior to advancing the BioPince Ultra instrument through the skin.
3. Remove the stylet from the co-axial Introducer needle, leaving the cannula in position, if
co-axial guidance is used.
4. Engage the safety slide (A) on the side of the instrument to place in the locked position,
if desired.

5. Cock the instrument by first pushing forward on the release slide (B) until the cocking
lever (C) raises, and then lift the cocking lever (C) until a click is heard. Push the
cocking lever down until a second click is heard. Green in the ready window (D)
indicates that the instrument is cocked.
6. The instrument is shipped in the 33mm stroke length position. To adjust the stroke
length, push in the stroke length adjuster (E) and slide it until the arrow on the stroke
length adjuster aligns with the arrow of the desired stroke length on the instrument.
Note: If an adjustment to the stroke length is desired, the instrument must first be
cocked.
7. Advance the BioPince Ultra needle into the co-axial introducer needle or percutaneously
to a position proximal to the area to be sampled.
8. If the instrument is locked, move the safety slide (A) to place in the un-locked position
until green is shown in the window. The instrument is ready to fire.
9. Firmly press on one of the firing trigger buttons located at the proximal end of the
instrument (F) or on the side of the instrument (G).
10. Remove the instrument from the patient.
11. To expel the sample, push forward on the release slide (B) until the cocking lever (C)
raises. Lift the cocking lever (C) until a click is heard, then push the cocking lever down
until a second click is heard.
12. The instrument is cocked and ready for collecting another sample, if additional biopsies
are required. Verify integrity of needle tips before additional biopsies.
DISPOSAL
After use, this product may be a potential biohazard. Dispose in accordance with applicable
laws and regulations.
STORAGE
Store at standard ambient temperature.

INDIKACE K POUŽITÍ: Jednorázový automatický bioptický nástroj na jádrovou biopsii
měkkých tkání BioPince Ultra Full Core se používá k získávání několika jádrových vzorků
měkkých tkání, jako jsou játra, ledviny, břišní útvary atd.
POPIS PROSTŘEDKU: Bioptický nástroj BioPince Ultra Full Core je jednorázový automatický
bioptický nástroj, který vyřezává z měkké tkáně plný jádrový vzorek. Nástroj je navržen tak,
aby vytlačil vzorek při opětovném natažení, které nástroj připraví na odběr dalšího vzorku (tj.
na „vystřelení"). Nástroj má bezpečnostní pojistku, okénko indikátoru připravenosti a dvě
spouštěcí tlačítka. Navíc má každý nástroj nastavitelnou délku tahu (tj. dráhu odběru).
K dispozici jsou tři nastavení:

Tento nástroj je k dispozici ve variantě 16ga v délkách 10 cm nebo 15 cm a 18ga v délkách 10
cm, 15 cm nebo 20 cm. Nástroj lze používat spolu s odpovídajícím zavaděčem koaxiální jehly.
ZPŮSOB DODÁNÍ:
Tento výrobek je při dodání sterilní, pokud balení není otevřené nebo poškozené. Sterilizováno
etylenoxidem (EO). Pouze pro jednorázové použití. Nesterilizujte znovu.
KONTRAINDIKACE: Biopsii u pacientů s krvácivými poruchami nebo pacientů užívajících
antikoagulační léky musí zvážit lékař.
VAROVÁNÍ:
 Opakované použití ani čistění a sterilizace nebyly vyhodnoceny a mohou vést
k nefunkčnosti výrobku a následnému onemocnění a/nebo poranění pacienta. Tento
nástroj NEPOUŽÍVEJTE opakovaně, nečistěte jej a neprovádějte jeho resterilizaci.
 Tento nástroj nebyl testován s ohledem na bezpečné použití v systémech pro zobrazení
magnetickou rezonancí. Tento nástroj obsahuje feromagnetické materiály.
 Nástroj musí používat lékaři obeznámení s možnými vedlejšími účinky, typickými
nálezy, omezeními, indikacemi a kontraindikacemi punkční jádrové biopsie.
 Použijte pouze pro jádrovou biopsii měkkých tkání tak, jak stanoví lékař s příslušnou
licencí. Pokus o odběr vzorků tvrdé tkáně nebo tkáňových mas může snížit výkonnost,
poškodit nástroj nebo případně poškodit pacienta. Tento nástroj je určen výhradně pro
biopsii měkkých tkání.
