Cleaning the continuous filling system
Take care. Regular careful cleaning of the float valve is necessary for maintaining correct
operation, particularly when salt solutions are nebulized.
Take care. Cleaning of the continuous filling system may be undertaken by trained person-
nel only.
Take care. No force must be exerted on the float chamber, the float or the connecting piece.
Dismantling: Remove the continuous filler from the nebulizer chamber. Remove the O-ring
from the groove with a blunt object through the assembly hole (e.g. a small hex key).
Remove the float. Remove the valve body from the float chamber.
Cleaning: Inspect the interior of the float chamber, valve seat and valve body and check for
sediment or particles. Carefully remove any sediment or particles with tweezers, swabs or a
lint-free cloth. Rinse all parts thoroughly under running water.
Assembly: Insert the valve body with the conical tip into the valve seat. Insert the float.
Insert the O-ring; ensure that the ring is correctly located in the groove.
Operation check: Place the continuous-fill system on the nebulizer chamber and secure
the Luer Lock connection to the infusion set. Fully open the roller clamp of the infusion set.
When the hose is correctly connected, the nebulizer chamber automatically fills with the
fluid to be nebulized. The float ensures that the nebulizer chamber is not filled beyond
the "maximum" mark. Check that the supply stops automatically when the fluid content
reaches a level between the "minimum" and "maximum" marks of the nebulizer chamber.
If this does not occur, clean the float valve of the continuous-fill system again and check
the operation of the continuous-fill system again.
Maintenance and repair: The ultrasonic nebulizer is used for the treatment of patients.
The equipment or parts of it can be contaminated. Before returning it for inspection or
repair, the nebulizer chamber, the continuous-fill system, the bacterial filter and all hoses
must therefore be removed and the device cleaned and disinfected.
