To avoid injury.
Read and understand the instruction manual before using this machine. Basic safety
precautions should be followed, including the following.
Electrical Shock Hazard.
ONLY use an earthed outlet.
DO NOT remove the earth.
DO NOT use an adaptor.
DO NOT use an extension cable.
Failure to follow instructions can cause death or electric shock.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS, SAFEGUARDS AND WARNINGS BEFORE
OPERATING THE BLENDER.

Read all instructions.
2. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children or
incapacitated persons. Children should be supervised to make sure that they do not
play with the appliance.
3. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless
they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
4. DO NOT IMMERSE. To protect against the risk of electrical shock, do not put the
blender base in water or other liquid.
5. The appliance is not to be cleaned with a water jet or steam cleaner.
6. To protect against the risk of electrical shock turn the appliance OFF, then unplug
from the outlet when not in use, before assembling or disassembling parts and before
cleaning. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull from the outlet. Never pull from the power
cord.
7. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service
agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
8. CAUTION: In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertant resetting of the thermal cut-
out, this appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device, such as a
timer, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility.
9. Avoid contact with moving parts.
10. DO NOT operate any appliance with a damaged cable or plug, or if the appliance
malfunctions or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Contact your retailer or
distributor at once for examination, repair, replacement or electrical or mechanical
adjustment.
11. Alteration or modification of any part or component of the blender assembly, including
the use of any part, component or accessory that is not a genuine authorised Vitamix
part, may cause fire, electric shock or injury.
12. The use of attachments not expressly authorised or sold by Vitamix for use with this
blender, including preserving jars, may cause fire, electric shock or injury.
13. If your machine is equipped with a variable-speed functionality, always start at lowest
speed setting.
14. DO NOT use the appliance for purposes other than its intended use.
15. The maximum normal load is equivalent to the ounces (litres) listed on the container,
i.e., 64 oz. / 2.0 L, 48 oz. / 1.4 L and substantially less with thick mixtures.
16. Do not use outdoors.
17. DO NOT let the cable hang over the edge of the table or work surface or make contact
with hot surfaces, including the hob.
18. To avoid injury and damage, keep hands and utensils, other than the tamper
provided, out of the container while blending.
19. The tamper can be used during blending in the container. The cover must remain
in place when using the tamper through the lid plug opening. A rubber scraper
or spatula may be used, but only when the blender is not running. Do not leave a
tamper, scraper or any other utensil in the container either when running or when
the motor is stopped.
VERY IMPORTANT:
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children)
whose physical, sensory or mental conditions are different or are
reduced, or lack experience or knowledge, unless such persons
receive supervision or training for the functioning of the appliance
by a person responsible for its safety. Children should be supervised
to make sure that they do not use the device as a toy.

20. Blades are sharp. When handling the blades or cleaning the container, use care to
avoid injury.
21. To reduce the risk of injury, never place the blade assembly on the motor base unless
assembled to the container.
22. DO NOT leave foreign objects, such as spoons, forks, knives or the lid plug, in either
container because this will damage the blades and other components when starting
the machine, and may cause injury.
23. Never attempt to operate the blender with damaged blades.
24. The lid and lid plug MUST be firmly in place during blending. The lid plug should be
removed only when adding ingredients and when using the tamper.
25. When making nut butters use tamper to shorten processing time. When blending
oil-based foods, do not process for more than one minute after the mixture starts
to circulate in the container. Processing for longer periods can cause damage to the
container and motor overheating.
26. Do NOT expose the container to temperatures over 210°F (99°C). Do NOT expose
the container to hot liquids or ingredients over 210°F (99°C).
27. Do not leave blender unattended when in use.
28. Be careful if hot liquid is poured into the blender as it can be ejected out of the
appliance due to a sudden steaming.
29. Use caution. Escaping steam or splashes may scald. Never start on the highest
speed when blending hot ingredients.
30. The lid plug should be removed only when adding ingredients and when using
the tamper.
31. Always start the blender with the variable speed dial set to 1 and the High/Low
switch in the low position. Never start on speeds above 1 or with the High/Low
Switch in the high position when blending hot liquids to avoid possible burns.
32. This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications
such as:
staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
farm houses;
by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
bed and breakfast type environments.
33. One 20 amp circuit per machine is recommended for 120V installation. One
dedicated circuit per machine is recommended for 220-240V and 100V
installation. Consult your local electrical codes for proper installation.
