Positioning

General

Here are some general rules of thumb you can use for positioning SubSession's units. They are
only recommendations – the keyword is 'experiment', until you get a set-up and a sound you
like. You will also find that the product performance increases after the first 24-48 hours of
operation.

Amplifier

The amplifier fits neatly on top of the subwoofer, but if you want to place it somewhere else,
make sure it is well-ventilated. Try to put it on a hard, even surface such as your desk, or a hi-fi
stand.
Take especial care to make sure the ventilation holes at the top and bottom are not obstruc-
ted. If you obstruct these holes you may cause the amplifier to overheat, which could dama-
ge it and invalidate your warranty.

Satellites

With a PC
When using SubSession with a PC, the way you position the satellites depends on whether
you want to play games or listen to music.
If you are playing games, place the satellites on either side of your monitor, so that sound co-
mes from the same source as the image. To get the best sound, try to keep the satellites level
with or in front of the monitor, but not further back because then the monitor may mask the
stereo image. Unlike normal hi-fi loudspeakers, the SubSession satellites are magnetically
shielded, so they will not damage your monitor if they are placed next to it.
If you want to listen to music, experiment with moving the satellites further away from the
monitor, or setting SubSession up as a hi-fi system, as explained below.
