Installation
If in doubt about how to install the device correctly, please contact an expert or a

Switch off the computer in which the product is to be installed as well as all
connected devices, and disconnect all devices from the mains voltage, remove
the power plug from the mains supply! Just turning off at the on/off switch is not
enough!
All plugs can only be connected in one correct position to the connections. Pay
attention to the proper polarity and position of the plugs. Do not apply force when
inserting the plugs or unplugging them.
• Open your computer's casing and carefully remove the cover.
• Look for a free 8.89 cm/(3.5") installation slot and remove the corresponding front cover.
There is often a metal shielding behind it, which has to be removed first. With some casings,
you have to unscrew them, with others you have to break it out carefully. Depending on the
Version 03/13
casing, you may have to remove the entire front cover first.
• Slot the hard disk drive panel controller into a free bay on the computer enclosure and fasten
it with the four screws included in delivery.
• Connect the four white 4-pin plugs to the connectors on the hard disk drive panel controller.
Ensure the numbered 4-pin plugs match the numbering on the front.
• Connect the power cables' SATA data plugs to the SATA drives.
• Connect both 4-pin Molex connectors to the respective Molex sockets on the hard disk drive
panel controller.
• Connect either the SATA power plug or the 4-pin Molex socket of the two power supply cables
to the power adaptor of the computer.
• Install the cables so that they do not protrude into any of the computer's fans, use cable ties,
for example.
• Check all connections once more and then close the housing of your computer.
Operation
• Connect your computer and monitor to the mains voltage and switch on all devices.
• Turn the drives on/off using the respective on/off switch on the front of the hard disk drive
panel controller.
Always turn a drive on/off before switching the computer on.
Never turn off a drive during data transfer. This can lead to data loss.
• Now switch on your computer. The status LED lights up when you have turned a drive on.
• If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off straight away and check all settings and
cable connections.
Before opening the enclosure again, disconnect the computer from the mains
supply!
