MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY OF THE TUB
Cover the tub when it is not in use to keep it clean. There are optional model-specific covers
available for covering the tub. During the heating, the tub should be covered in order to keep the
heat evaporation as low as possible.

Surface treatment

DIY
Take care of the surface material in panelled or built-in tubs in accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions. The supplied material can be used in accordance with the instructions below.
ThermoWood
The bath tub made of ThermoWood is a beautiful brown. If you want to keep the brown tone, the
tub needs to be oiled from inside about every 6 months with wood oil including UV protection. The
water-thinned, toned wooden oil suitable for treating the ThermoWood tub is Teknos' Woodex
Aqua. The tubs are handled with tone 7817/09 (Kirami light yellow) at the factory. The post-
treatment should be made with a suitable brown colour, because the lighter wood needs more
colour.
ProfiLine composite
Composite panelling endures wear and humidity well and rejects stains and mould. The surface
does not have any splinters either. The composite endures UV radiation, so it does not become
grey. They are really easy to treat and demand no maintenance other than a wash every now and
then.
Red Cedar
Red Cedar endures even harsh weather circumstances. Treating the Red Cedar panel is
recommended once a year with paraffin oil.
Inner surface
The inner colour of the tub fades/blurs in time. The sunlight speeds up this fading. Cover the
tub when it is not used. If you want to polish the inner surface of the tub, you can wax it
with car wax. Use a harsh sponge on spreading the wax or foam rubber disc with a machine.
The surface cannot be rubbed to avoid damaging the painted surface.
Other remarks
Note that the discharge tap should always be left half open in an empty tub. If the
tap is open, some water may remain behind the valve ball, which will break the valve
when it freezes. Do not leave water unsupervised/unheated at subzero
temperatures. The drain pipes and taps freeze really easily. In case the exhaust
hose/tap has frozen, the tub can be emptied by removing the stove to let the water
away from the lower hose. In case the stove is frozen, do not light a fire but rather
thaw the stove slowly.
