Water softening system

To ensure good washing results, the
dishwasher requires soft water, i.e.
containing low amounts of lime, otherwise
white limescale will be deposited on the
utensils and inner container.
Tap water above a specific degree of water
hardness must be softened, i.e. descaled,
for use in a dishwasher.
Water is softened with special salt in the
water softening system of the dishwasher.
The setting and the required amount of salt
is dependent on the degree of hardness of
your tap water.

Adjusting the water softening
system
You can find out the degree of hardness
of your tap water from your local water
supply company or the customer service
centre responsible for your appliance.
The corresponding value must then be
set on the water softening system of your
dishwasher according to the following
overview:

Function of the salt
During the washing process the dishwasher
automatically conveys salt from the
dispenser to the water softening system
which removes the lime particles contained
in the water.
The calcareous solution flows out of the
dishwasher. As soon as this has occurred,
the water softening system is ready for
a new water softening system cycle.
This regeneration process functions only
when salt has been dissolved in the water.
