UK—M1N1 Adaptor Installation Guide
Please consult the relevant application sheet prior to fitting the M1N1 Adaptor and
SE5000. For vehicles where no application sheet exists, please follow the generic
instructions below. The M1N1 Adaptor can only be fitted to category M1 or N1 vehicles,
entered into service from 1
4 x bolts
4 x nylock nuts
4 x tie-wraps
1. Check the M1N1 Adaptor shows no signs of damage or tampering. Product plaque
showing type approval number e11 0042 must be valid and fully intact. Four Stoneridge S/
E red seals must be present and secure. (See Fig. 2)
2. Check the Adaptor cable harness, including 2 Adaptor connectors, shows no signs of
damage or tampering. (See Fig. 3)
3. Connect M1N1 Adaptor to vehicle (red wire to battery positive, black wire to battery
negative, yellow wire to vehicle speed signal input source for the M1N1 Adaptor). Fit
yellow Tachograph 'B' connector to Adaptor harness (pin 1 black, pin 2 brown, pin 3 blue
& pin 4 white) and fit the SE5000 Tachograph.
4. Using an approved method calibrate the vehicle. If the W-factor determined on the
Tachograph is less than 250 or greater than 8000, then an M1N1 Adaptor must be re-
calibrated using the programming module connected as shown. Run the M1N1 calibration
test with the MKII, this will enable the automatic programming of the Adaptor internal
divide ratio to an appropriate value. (Note: software versions 3.01 or greater standard MKII
or 2.01 or greater Stoneridge Rolling Road MKII only). Once the M1N1 Adaptor internal
divide ratio has been programmed, reconnect the M1N1 Adaptor to the Tachograph and
re-calibrate the vehicle. Once this has been completed, the vehicle connections must be
secured using a suitable method. (See Fig. 4)
5. Mount M1N1 Adaptor as close as possible to the part of the vehicle which provides the
incoming pulses using the bolts and nylock nuts. Should the M1N1 Adaptor be mounted
externally, the sensor must point vertically downwards. Secure Adaptor harness with red
harness lock, sealing wire and a lead seal. Secure Tachograph connection cable in the
vehicle using tie-wraps. (See Fig. 5)
6. Run vehicle on Rolling Road to ensure Tachograph displayed speed is correct and to
check that no motion sensor error events or faults have been generated in the
Tachograph.
7. Complete the Product/Workshop plaque showing date of M1N1 Adaptor installation
and VIN, seal with coverlay. (See Fig. 6)
8. Generate M1N1 Adaptor Tachograph installation plaque. Fit the completed plaque in
approved location on vehicle. (See Fig. 7)
