Installing the New Microprocessor Boards

To install the new microprocessor boards, perform the following steps.
NOTICE: See "Protecting Against Electrostatic Discharge" in the safety
instructions at the front of your systems's Installation and Troubleshooting
Guide.
1. To install a microprocessor board, position the board over the large connector on
the profusion board and press the microprocessor board into the profusion board
connector.
2. Repeat step 1 to install the second microprocessor board.
3. Install the microprocessor cage and press each plastic tab/latch in to latch the
microprocessor cage firmly in place.
NOTE: The microprocessor cage cannot lock if each microprocessor board is not
firmly seated in its connector.
4. Ensure that the microprocessor speed jumper is set correctly for the micropro-
cessor assembly installed.
Refer to Figure 1-9 for the location of the microprocessor speed jumpers. Refer to
your system's Service Manual at http://support.dell.com for information on set-
ting the microprocessor speed jumpers.
