Connecting/Disconnecting the Computer

CAUTION
Make sure to turn the computer off for connection/disconnection.
Do not connect or disconnect the Cradle while the computer is powered on or in the
sleep (Windows Vista, Windows 7), standby (Windows XP) or hibernation mode.
Connecting

Turn off the computer.
Disconnect all the devices and cables and close the terminal cover.

Connect the AC adaptor (supplied with the computer) to DC-

IN jack of the Cradle.
Connect the AC cord (supplied with
the computer) to the AC adaptor, and
connect to an AC outlet.
CAUTION
Refer to the OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS accompanying computer for
information on proper handling of the AC adaptor and AC cord.
NOTE
Even if the AC adaptor is not connected to the Cradle, power is supplied by
the computer's battery. This allows you to use the USB ports of the Cradle (For
the output specifi cations
However, it is recommended to connect the AC adaptor to the Cradle, in order to
avoid unexpected status that may happen when the battery level becomes very low.
• Connect the AC adaptor in the following cases.
- The total power consumption of the connected devices exceeds 240 mA.
- A device with an input voltage of 4.4 V or higher is connected.
- The power consumption or input voltage of the connected device(s) is
unknown.
The LAN, Serial and External Display ports cannot be used unless the AC
adaptor is connected to the Cradle.
