1. INTRODUCTION
These certified beacons have been
designed for use in potentially
explosive atmospheres and harsh
environmental conditions. The glass
reinforced polyester enclosures are
suitable for use offshore or onshore,
where light weight combined with
corrosion resistance is required.
The housing is manufactured com-
pletely from a U.V. stable, glass
reinforced polyester. Stainless steel
screws and mounting bracket are
incorporated ensuring a totally
corrosion free product.
Units can be painted to customer
specification and supplied with
identification labels.

2. INSTALLATION

General
When installing and operating
explosion-protected equipment, re-
quirements for selection, installation
and operation should be referred to
eg. IEE Wiring Regulations and the
'National Electrical Code' in North
America. Additional national and/
or local requirements may apply.
Ensure that all nuts, bolts and fix-
ings are secure.
Ensure that only the correct listed or
certified stopping plugs are used to
blank off unused gland entry points
and that the NEMA/IP rating of the
unit is maintained.
Mounting
The unit can either be directly
mounted using inserts moulded into
the back of the enclosure (standard)
or a backstrap (optional) can be
fixed to the unit giving an optional
mounting position for when direct
mounting is deemed suitable.
MEDC recommend the use of stain-
less steel screws.

Ces feux certifiés ont été spéciale-
ment conçus pour une utilisation
dans une atmosphère explosive et
des conditions environnementales
rigoureuses. Les boîtiers en polyes-
ter renforcé à la fibre de verre sont
adaptés à une utilisation off-shore
et à terre, où légèreté et résistance
à la corrosion sont requises.
Le boîtier est en polyester renforcé à
la fibre de verre et résistant aux UV.
Des vis et supports en acier inoxyd-
able sont utilisés afin de garantir la
résistance à la corrosion.
Les boîtiers peuvent être peints
suivant les spécifications du cli-
ent et fournis avec étiquettes
d'identification.
2. INSTALLATION
Généralités
Le choix, l'installation et l'utilisation
d'un équipement antidéflagrant
doivent se faire conformément aux
directives de la réglementation
sur le câblage IEE et du National
Electric Code pour l'Amérique du
Nord. S'appliquent également
les prescriptions nationales et/ou
locales pertinentes.
Vérifier que les écrous, boulons et
fixations sont correctement serrés.
Vérifier que les points d'entrée
non utilisés sont obturés par des
bouchons certifiés du type correct
et que la classification NEMA/IP est
maintenue.
Installation
L'équipement peut être installé
directement au moyen des inserts
moulés au dos du boîtier (de série)
ou d'un étrier (option) facilitant
l'installation à un emplacement
où l'installation directe s'avère
impossible.
MEDC recommande l'utilisation des
vis suivantes en acier inoxydable.

u n t e r r a u e n U m g e b u n g s b e -
dingungen entwickelt. Die Gehäuse
aus glasfaserverstärktem Polyester
eignen sich zur Verwendung auf
See und an Land, wenn ein
geringes Gewicht gepaart mit
Korrosionsbeständigkeit und
Festigkeit gefragt ist.
Das Gehäuse ist ganz aus UV-
beständigem, glasfaserverstärktem
Polyester gefertigt. Schrauben und
Halter aus Edelstahl gewährleisten
ein völlig korrosionsfreies Produkt.

2. INSTALLATION
Allgemeines
Bei Installation und Betrieb
e x p l o s i o n s g e s c h ü t z t e r A u s -
rüstungsgegenstände sind die
An-forderungen an Auswahl,
Installation und Betrieb, z.B.
die Installationsvorschriften der
Vereinigung der Elektroingenieure
(IEE) in Großbritannien und die
NEC-Vorschriften in Nordamerika
zu beachten. Manchmal sind
zusätzlich nationale und/oder
regionale Anforderungen zu
beachten.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass alle
M u t t e r n , S c h r a u b e n u n d
Befestigungselemente fest sitzen.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass zum
Ve r s c h l i e ß e n u n b e n u t z t e r
Anschlussstutzen-Öffnungen nur
entsprechend zugelassene oder
zertifizierte Verschlussstopfen
verwendet werden und die IP-/
NEMA-Klasse des Geräts erhalten
bleibt.
Montage
Das Gerät kann entweder mit
