Insert the cap in the mouthpiece. Then you either insert new batteries or you deactivate the
device and hold the BLOW and START keys simultaneously for 3 seconds. A beep sound will
indicate that the cleaning process has started. One by one, the LED indicators will light.
The cleaning will be finished ± 5 minutes later, as indicated by the flashing ready LED and the
beeping sounds.
Please note that you can interrupt the cleaning process at any given time by holding the START
button for 3 to 4 seconds until the device beeps.

Remark : The alarm level of your AT5399 is printed in the lower left-hand corner at the back of
the housing. Velleman uses the AT5399 model calibrated to an alarm level of 0.5‰.

6. Important Remarks

1. Make sure no alcohol residue remains in the device before you perform the next test. Hold
the BLOW button for at least 5 seconds to allow fresh air into the device. Shaking the device
a couple of times achieves the same result.
2. The ERROR LED will flash and the device will beep continuously (I) if the user does not start
blowing while the ready LED is flashing or (II) if he doesn't hold the BLOW button for 5
seconds while blowing.
3. Wait 5 minutes before further use when 5 tests have been performed.
4. The environmental conditions should remain more or less constant in
case of repeated testing in order to avoid unreliable results.
5. Turn the mouthpiece anticlockwise to unscrew it if the inside gets dirty.
Clean the mouthpiece and screw it back on.
6. Store the device in a dry environment when not in use.
7. Check the figure alongside to see which LEDs will blink when the
batteries are running low. The device will also beep intermittently.
8. The test results will not be accurate if the test subject suffers from
diabetes.
9. Testing in an environment with room temperature is the best guarantee for accurate results.
