4. Function
This pressure switch is a signal converter. It opens or closes an electrical circuit if the system pres-
sure reaches a previously adjusted switch point. Thus it converts the pressure of fluids in electrical
switching signals. A membrane or a piston inside the pressure switch is moved in dependence
of the pressure of the medium. The diaphragm deflection and the piston stroke are a function of
the pressure and the preload the spring. At the switching point, i.e. at a defined deflection of the
diaphragm, or a defined stroke of the piston, an electric contact is opened or closed. The switching
point is set within different pressure ranges by means of an adjustment screw. This can be done
ex-factory or on-site.
