Switch on the appliance by pressing the automatic switch. This switch is only meant for turning the
appliance on. The appliance will turn off automatically when the coffee is ready. If the machine needs to
be switched off prematurely, it will have to be unplugged.
PLEASE NOTE:
After making coffee, you must wait for at least 5 minutes before making a new pot so that the appliance
has time to cool down.
As soon as the coffee is ready, the sliding cover on the thermos can should be closed to keep the coffee at
the right temperature.
CLEANING
UNPLUG THE APPLIANCE BEFORE CLEANING
Rinse the thermos can, water reservoir and filter holder. These parts are not dishwasher-safe. The outside
of the PRINCESS SMART COFFEEMAKER can be wiped with a damp cloth. Never immerse the
thermos can in water as this may seep into the insulation cavity.
DESCALING
The PRINCESS SMART COFFEEMAKER will have a longer lease of life if it is regularly descaled.
This should be done once a month, or even twice a month in regions with very hard water. Hard water is
considered to be water with a hardness of more than 20_DH, which is a measuring scale for water
hardness. Your water company will be able to tell you how hard your water is. The appliance should also
be descaled immediately if:
- It makes bubbling noises,
- Making coffee takes longer than normal,
- Water remains in the reservoir after making coffee.
Almost all descaling agents available in the shops can be used to clean the machine. The applications for
which a descaling agent is suitable are usually stated on the packaging. Exceptions are hydrochloric acid
and sulphuric acid, which should never be used for descaling.
This procedure should be followed:
- Let the appliance cool down sufficiently.
- Fill the reservoir with cold water.
- Add a descaling agent to the water in the ratio indicated on the packaging.
- Put a paper filter in the filter holder. Do not forget to place the pot under the filter.
- Switch on the appliance.
- After approximately 2 cups of water have passed through the appliance, turn it off and leave it for half
an hour to allow the descaling agent to work.
- Turn the appliance on again. When all the water with descaling agent has passed through, run clean
water through the appliance three times to remove all traces of the descaling agent.
