with the types of fastenings and with length and size adjustments.
The harness strap must never be pulled out of the buckles. If this
does happen, the strap must be reinserted into the buckle according
to the operating instructions (fig. 2.1 - 2.5). Check that all buckles
and adjustments are secure before and during each use. Before
using for the first time, check the size/fit of the harness by means of
a hanging test (approx. 10 min.) in a safe place (fig. 3.4). Harnesses
compliant with EN 12277 type B can only be used by persons
weighing up to a max. of 40 kg and with a hip circumference of 45-
75 cm (tables in fig. 3.4, fig. 3.5). Size range cannot be specifically
defined due to different body shapes. The hanging test should serve
as an indicator for the user in independently choosing the correct fit.
If you use a sport climbing harness for your child, please make sure
the child has sufficient muscle tone to use the seat harness by itself.
If not, use a full-body harness or the Dunit chest harness. The
product must be used only in conjunction with EC-certified
components for fall-arrest personal safety equipment. The harness
must be used exclusively with energy-absorbing systems. Prior to
use, check the system for compatibility with all components. The
harness must not be exposed to any damaging elements, corrosive
or aggressive substances (such as acids, soldering fluids or oils), as
well as extreme temperatures and sparks. When using the product,
avoid impacts, rubbing on raw materials and over sharp edges.
Care during transport and use will ensure the safety and long
lifespan of the equipment. The product can be used in long-term
temperatures of –35° to +55° C in dry climates. Special care must
be taken with wet equipment and temperatures below zero degrees.
Moisture and ice can negatively affect the hold and secureness of
harnesses and ropes.
2.2 Attaching the climbing harness
Step into the leg straps so that the tie-in loop is in the front. If there
are buckles on the waist belt, these should be fastened. Pull the
straps tight (fig. 1.1).
The harness should be adjusted until it sits firmly, but comfortably.
There should be room for two fingers between the body and strap
(fig. 1.2, 1.3).
PLEASE NOTE: The TACT-IT 1 + 2 belts consist of a waist belt
and loose leg straps, which must be attached using an EN 362
carabiner (fig. 3.8).
3.) Fastening-up
For roping up, use only the tie-in loops or rings specifically provided
(fig. 3.1, 3.5, 3.6). Secure yourself directly in the harness using a
figure-eight knot (fig. 3.2). Use an overhand bend to join the hip and
chest harness (fig. 3.7 - pos. 5). Fastening with two counter-rotating
carabiners (A4) is only permitted on glaciers and for top-rope
climbing . NOTE: NEVER use the chest strap alone. Hanging freely
with only the chest strap fastened and without sitting harness can be
