PREPARATION OF THE VEHICLE
First, it must be ensured that the headlights are clean and dry. If the vehicle has headlights
adjustable from the inside / self-levelling headlamp system, put this switch to „0". Also
eliminate possible sources of irritation with regard to the correct vehicle positioning, like
e.g. mud, snow, ice, etc. Put the vehicle wheels straight. Make sure that the vehicle chassis
is not twisted. Check whether the tyre pressure is correct. Then start the engine and start
with the headlight testing. For vehicles with compressed air suspension, start the engine
fi ve minutes prior to the testing and perform the testing with running engine.
ATTENTION!
In case you are working in close spaces with running engine the harmful exhaust
gases must absolutely be discharged. We recommend the use of specifi c exhaust
extraction systems.
ALIGNMENT WITH REGARD TO THE VEHICLE
POSITIONING
INSTALLATION BY MEANS OF THE LASER POSITIONING (OPTIONAL)
ATTENTION!
Do not look directly into the laser beam during this operation and make sure that
the laser is not directed to persons being near the working area.
POSITIONING WITH REGARD TO THE VEHICLE
POSITIONING BY MEANS OF THE MIRROR VISOR
Try to fi nd two reference points on the front of the vehicle as to symmetrically positioned
details (e.g. the upper part of the windscreen or the headlight itself)., Make sure that the
two reference points comply with the reference line of the visor, otherwise turn the device
until you have a compliance.
Position the Headlight Tester approx. 20 cm in front of the right
headlight; measure the height difference between alignment
surface and middle of the headlight, then adjust the optical box to
the right height by means of the measuring scale on the column.
As reference point of the measuring scale use the upper part of
the sliding shoe.
If the small wheel on the back of the optical box is put to „0"
a laser beam is emitted approx. in the middle of the lens which
facilitates the positioning with the centre of the headlight.
If you set the inclination with the small wheel the laser beam
automatically stops.
In order to avoid a premature discharging of the batteries the
small wheel on the back of the optical box for inclination
adjustment should be put to a percentage different than „0%"
at the end of each headlight testing (e.g.1 %).
