2 Safety Notes
This unit corresponds to the directive 89/336/EEC for
electromagnetic compatibility and to the low voltage
directive 73/23/EEC.
Attention! The unit is supplied with hazardous mains
voltage (230 V~). Leave servicing to skilled personnel
only. Inexpert handling may cause an electric shock
hazard. Furthermore, any guarantee claim will expire
if the unit has been opened.
It is essential to observe the following items:
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against dripping water and splash water, high air
humidity, and heat (admissible ambient temperature
range 0 – 40 °C).
Do not place any vessels filled with liquid, e.g. drin-
king glasses, on the unit.
Do not set the unit into operation, and immediately
disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket if
1. there is visible damage to the unit or to the mains
cable,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or simi-
lar accident,
3. malfunctions occur.
The unit must in any case be repaired by skilled per-
sonnel.
damaged mains cable must only be replaced by the
manufacturer or by authorized, skilled personnel.
Never pull the mains cable to disconnect the mains
plug from the mains socket, always seize the plug.
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, by no means
chemicals or water.
* For better handling, the connecting terminals can be pulled off
from their plug-in connections.

No guarantee claims for the unit and no liability for
any resulting personal damage or material damage
will be accepted if the unit is used for other purposes
than originally intended, if it is not correctly connect-
ed, operated, or not repaired in an expert way.
Important for U. K. Customers!
The wires in the mains lead of the power supply unit
are coloured in accordance with the following code:
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, pro-
ceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured blue must be con-
nected to the terminal in the plug which is marked
with the letter N or coloured black.
2. The wire which is coloured brown must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter L or coloured red.
If the unit is to be put out of operation de-
finitively, take it to a local recycling plant for
a disposal which is not harmful to the en-
vironment.
3 Applications
This 2-channel preamplifier is designed for the use in
professional PA systems or for the use on stage. It al-
lows to remote-control the signal level separately for
each channel by a DC voltage.
It is possible to connect stereo and mono units with
line level (e. g. CD players, mixers, tape recorders) to
the preamplifier.
The preamplifier is especially suited for mounting
into a rack (482 mm/19"). If required, it can also be
placed as desired. For the rack installation a height of
1 rs (rack space = 44.45 mm) is required.
4 Connecting the Unit
Prior to connecting units or changing existing connec-
tions, switch off the preamplifier and the units to be
connected.
1) Connect the line audio sources (e. g. CD player,
mixer, tape recorder) to the jacks INPUT (5).
2) Connect the power amplifier for the speakers or
another subsequent unit with line input to the jacks
OUTPUT (4).
3) Connect the control voltages to the screw termi-
nals* (6). The cable length and the cross section of
the control cables are uncritical.
